Job Description

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will provide leadership, strategic thinking and business acumen to work across the organization to define and drive the technology strategy and vision regarding infrastructure and architecture, vendor selection, application development and service management that supports the successful execution of our business strategy. The incumbent is expected to be well-versed in current technological trends and familiar with a variety of business concepts, with a specialization in financial services technologies. In addition, the incumbent will also be responsible for vendor selection and management of significant technology providers, development and management of the company’s technology budget, and prioritization of the deployment of technical assets and resources.

Role Responsibilities

  • Make technology decisions on behalf of the company, including managing a technology budget and making investments to align the company with their vision for its technological needs and to ensure alignment with its business goals. Ensure that the technological resources meet the company's short and long-term needs.
  • Discover, test and implement new technologies that yield competitive advantage and enable the organization to respond nimbly to changing trends in market and consumer expectations. Provide thought-leadership and make key contributions to the Bank’s business and digital strategies.
  • Communicate transparently and effectively with partners and investors, sharing technology strategy and using stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology
  • Establish appropriate service levels and the processes to ensure that KPIs are met. Steer the company and departments use technology profitably by establishing KPIs and IT budgets to optimize technology spend and performance
  • Oversee technology architecture and infrastructure to ensure functionality, security and efficiency. Maintain security of all data proprietary to the Bank and provide for the complete backup of all computer systems in case of system failure or disaster.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in infrastructure management, network communications, application development and service management that enables the organization to meet its business objectives.
  • Assess, recommend, and oversee all vendors and managed service agreements for computing, telecommunications, IT services, equipment, etc. Act as primary liaison and key relationship manager and escalation point between hardware and software vendors.
  • Serve as an internal technology consultant across the WSFS organization.
  • Continuously evaluate processes and technology, recommending process improvements and the necessary materials/equipment and software to gain efficiencies and boost outcomes
  • Responsible for oversight of procuring, installing, and maintaining all technology hardware and software and all other products and supplies necessary to keep infrastructure system optimal and operable
  • Direct implementation and execution of upgrades/system releases via well-defined plans,

This position will be located at our operations center in northern Wilmington, DE, and will require intermittent travel to other locations within the Bank’s geographic footprint.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must have a minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience as a CTO or other similar senior IT leadership position for a minimum of 5 years, with specific experience in managing technology in a cloud/hybrid cloud environment
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or equivalent experience. An MBA is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced technological skill set and a demonstrated history with technology. Extensive industry knowledge with an eye towards the future.
  • Exceptional team management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • This individual must have the ability to successfully work under the pressure of strict deadlines.
  • Experience in financial services such as banking, wealth management or asset management is strongly preferred.
  • Strong facilitation, influencing, and change management skills.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands described below must be met by an Associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Incumbent will be required to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Incumbent may be required to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • May be required to wear face coverings during business hours.
  • Dexterity is mandatory as this job requires frequent use of hands and fingers.
  • The incumbent will be required to walk, reach with hands and arms, push items overhead, occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • The incumbent will also be required to talk, hear, see, read and write.
  • This position requires regular lifting and moving of 10-25 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • Incumbent must be able to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine paperwork, use existing form letter and/or conduct routine oral communication, communicate with individuals using a telephone, hear and speak effectively on the telephone, express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word, communicate orally with others accurately and quickly, at an audible level that others can hear.
  • Incumbent must also have the ability to count accurately and the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and record, balance and check results for accuracy.
