About the role

You will work in the laboratory as member of the expanding Dynamic Omics group and be actively involved in developing and implementing pipelines for proteomics applications to support the analysis of clinical samples. This position will be primarily focused on utilizing state-of-the-art proteomics technologies to investigate a number of biological questions in support of our clinical research and requires comprehensive expertise and hands-on experience in these areas. You must be passionate and enthusiastic about clinical and translational research and poses an in-depth understanding and hands-on experience with modern mass spectrometry and chromatography techniques. You will be responsible for establishing standardized methods and procedures for sample handling, processing and analysis as well as troubleshooting mass spectrometry instrumentation and automated platforms. A primary responsibility will be the operation of advanced nanoflow liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry (LC-MS) instrumentation (Exploris 480 FAIMS, Fusion, Q-Exactive HF-X, TIMS-TOF) to support innovative proteomics profiling and translational research across our therapeutic areas, which include cardiovascular, renal, metabolic and respiratory diseases.

In addition to developing and maintaining technological capabilities, this role will involve planning and conducting laboratory experiments and interpreting complex proteomic data. Additionally, this position will closely collaborate with scientists in the Metabolomics, Flw Cytometry and Imaging groups and support Translational Scientists to set and implement biomarker strategies. Give the scope of this dynamic role and the need to multitask, it is essential to be a fast learner, excellent communicator, well organized, innovative and able to work independently when designing and executing experiments as well as to manage and prioritize tasks. Furthermore, you should demonstrate enthusiasm, motivation, attention to detail and willingness to learn new technologies, flexibility and confidence.

Essential Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Proteomics, Mass Spectrometry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field, with 3-6 years of post-doctoral experience in a relevant research area; without prior supervisory responsibility
  • The position is a hands-on, laboratory-based position
  • Experience with processing and analysis of biological matrices (urine, serum, plasma, fluids, tissue)
  • The candidate should be familiar with the entire proteomics pipeline (including sample preparation, LC and MS operation, data analysis) and able to conduct independent and innovative research
  • Experience with specific instruments (Exploris 480 FAIMS, Fusion, Q-Exactive HF-X, TIMS-TOF) is preferred
  • Proficiency with MS data analysis software (MaxQuant etc.), bioinformatics and statistics tools
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals, generate technical report summaries and SOPs
  • Able to work well collaboratively in a team environment


Desirable Requirements
  • Hands-on experience with method validation and QC implementation for proteomics workflows
  • Experience with handling, processing and analysis of diverse clinical specimens
  • Knowledge and working experience with automation/liquid handler platforms
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines
