Reporting to the Academic Support Manager, the Academic Support Coach is a compassionate, committed, and energetic professional, who helps students stay engaged in their learning, by providing support in executive functioning skills and course navigation in the learning environment. This position utilizes best practices to assess the needs of students in cohorts (below) and connects them with campus resources:

Highly adaptable and creative in addressing student needs.

Resourcefulness, with excellent problem solving and research skills.

Requires empathy, compassion and an understanding of the cultural and social backgrounds within the Waubonsee community.

Excellent communication and the ability to establish trusting relationships.

Excellent presentation skills in speaking with various audiences.

Proactive and detailed oriented.

Able to learn, adapt, and utilize new technology and programs quickly.

Being open to change and new methods in the assigned areas of responsibilities.

Ability to participate in a team-based approach to student success.

Knowledge of the student support services.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Education, or related field.

Experience working with diverse college student populations.

Proficient in technology including MS Office, with exceptional knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint; experience with using cloud-based collaboration tools like Google Docs, Dropbox, and One Drive.

Ability to perform multiple tasks successfully in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision. Able to adapt behavior or work methods in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles.

Ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends.

Bilingual in Spanish/English strongly preferred.

    At Waubonsee, the health and safety or our employees and students remains our top priority.
