Summary

The Account Executive is responsible for the overall strategic results on assigned accounts, as well as the strategic coordination of client marketing and servicing. Assigned to the largest and most complex clients within the agency, the AE will work closely with producers and clients to develop effective commercial programs. This role is responsible for retention and expansion of an assigned book of business and participation in the procurement of new business. This is accomplished through proactive client service, managing renewals/marketing, and business development initiatives.

Essential Functions

1. PROACTIVE CLIENT SERVICE

  • Works directly with the senior level client staff to establish strategy.
  • Partner with vendors and carriers to design and deliver products and services.
  • Develop effective business relationships with assigned clients through in-person visits, entertainment opportunities, telephone and electronic contact at multiple levels within client organization.
  • Provide high level financial, contract and/or administrative analysis
  • Review loss summary with client to pro-actively manage losses
  • Manage client stewardship plan with corresponding activities and deliverables.
  • Communicate and educate the client on changes within our industry and how they could impact their business

2. MANAGING CLIENT RENEWALS/MARKETING
  • Manage client renewal and marketing process, including negotiation of rates with carriers and presenting alternative options when appropriate.
  • Analyze renewal quotes and industry trends to make appropriate renewal recommendations.
  • Prepare and participate in presenting proposal to client and in team selling with other MMA disciplines.

3. TEAM LEADERSHIP AND DEMONSTRATION OF MMA'S CORE VALUES
  • Create an environment oriented to trust, open communication and cohesive team effort
  • Facilitate problem solving and collaboration when faced with client difficulties
  • Ensure deliverables are prepared to satisfy client requirements
  • Work closely with Client Service Director to obtain necessary resources to support the team's requirements
    • Provide leadership in practice group and team interactions
    • Create learning opportunities for team mates and provide ongoing constructive feedback.
    • Demonstrate MMA's core values in interactions with peers, clients, and carriers.
4. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES
  • Prospects
    • Assist producer and/or account manager with the pre-qualification of an account along with gathering information for submission
    • Discuss market strategy with team and oversee submission process; review & negotiate quotations and make placement recommendation in collaboration with producer and marketer.
    • Prepare and participate in presenting proposal to client and in team selling with other MMA disciplines.
    • Coordinate coverage placement and policy delivery process; complete and review coverage checklist with client.
  • Existing Clients
    • Pursue opportunities to round out existing client programs with additional and/or increased lines of coverage.
    • Opportunities from referrals, cross selling MMA's other departments and up-selling additional coverage and/or MMA value added services

5. PURSUE A PROGRAM OF PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
  • Work with Manager to develop continuing education/designation plan.
  • Act as agency resource for internal learning and development opportunities.

6. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES NECESSARY TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE ROLE

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required; in-depth working knowledge of insurance with 7+ years of industry experience and demonstrated relationship management skills with 5+ years of client management responsibilities. Experience establishing strategy and direction for insurance programs.

Ability to coordinate multiple projects while ensuring timely and accurate client deliverables, with effective problem solving and resolution skills. Strong organizational, project planning and management, analytical and multi-tasking skills. Excellent client relationship building and presentation skills. Superior listening, verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required. State insurance license required.
