This integral member of the Commercial team will report directly to the Executive Director, in Client Development. You will drive revenue to ensure continued growth and profitability. The Sports business at NPD works with some of the most well-known and exciting companies in the world. Are you passionate about sports apparel, footwear, and equipment? Do you have an opinion on which companies are doing things right and which companies should be doing things better? Our Sports team is seeking an Account Manager, Client Development who is responsible for building relationships with our clients, providing them with data driven value-added insights, and identify and driving incremental revenue opportunities.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Build strategic relationships with senior level client contacts to develop strategic business insights regarding the clients' most important business issues/needs, both short and long-term.
  • Understand the dynamics of client's organization and penetrate the account to identify applications for NPD products and services
  • Grow revenue within assigned accounts and identify new business opportunities.
  • Provide insights/recommendations to clients on matters such as promotional success, strategic brand management, and merchandising strategies, based on market research analysis across multiple categories
  • Develop and execute comprehensive client account plans; understand the client's organization; understand their internal objectives and business issues; develop knowledge of the industry they compete in, and provide day-to-day tactical support.
  • Enhance manufacturer and retailer collaboration through the use of NPD data
  • Ensure overall client satisfaction with service, data application and deliverables.


Qualifications:
  • 5-8+ years' experience in a client servicing capacity with a market research firm, or industry experience within a consumer insights, sales or buying organization.
  • Related athletic footwear and/or apparel industry experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with POS/consumer panel data to generate analyses.
  • Strong analytical skills and writing ability - able to distill diverse data sets into cohesive and succinct stories both in presentations and word documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging and impactful presentations.
  • Experienced in consultative selling, including contract negotiations.
  • Strong organizational, project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Detail oriented with ability to multi-task and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Expert in all MS Office products. (Strong Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Travel will be required at some point (typically 15% - 20%), mostly domestic, international travel may be required

Communication

The ideal candidate must be able to conduct engaging presentations that deliver value to the client while telling a compelling story in a concise and polished manner to a diverse audience. Most importantly, the candidate must demonstrate the ability to listen to the customer, ask questions and align their needs with NPD products. Additionally, consistent and clear communication is required with NPD teammates who also work with the client. This communication takes many forms, including written, verbal, in-person, remote meetings etc. The ideal candidate excels in each form, and is proactive with all communications.

Relationships

The ideal candidate must be comfortable and effective when talking with a broad range of decision influencers and decision makers within an organization. The candidate must also be able to understand and build relationships throughout NPD and client organizations.

Discipline

The ideal candidate will be competent in managing their time and activities and must embrace our proven opportunity and customer management processes and systems. Candidates must possess a "can-do" perspective in their professional attitude. They will be detail oriented and demonstrate a strong work ethic. They will be sticklers for accuracy in their own work as well as their colleagues'. They will be ready to back up their assertions with facts.
