St. Norbert College, a nationally-ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college is seeking a temporary Accountant who will support general accounting functions for the duration of the College's ERP system implementation. Such accounting functions include, but are not limited to, journal entry processing, chart of accounts maintenance, account reconciliation, accounts payable entry, and financial and tax analysis and reporting. Duties will rotate and will be assigned as needed by the Director of Accounting Services. The selected candidate should have a working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This is a one-year appointment, with a desired start date of August 2022.

Specific responsibilities:

Process journal entries in computerized accounting system and perform chart of account maintenance. - 25%

Assist with a variety of financial analyses, account reconciliations, and reports. - 25%

Assist with weekly accounts payable process. - 25%

Assist with various federal and state financial and tax reporting requirements. - 25%

Performs additional duties as assigned and attends College required training. Regular attendance is required. Works in a manner that is aware of personal safety and the safety of others and observes safety, health and sanitation codes, regulations, or practices required by the College or governmental authority.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Education -

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting.

Experience and Credentials -

  • 3-5 years experience in related field.

  • 2-3 years experience with a computerized accounting system.

  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse campus environment or commitment to do so as an employee of St. Norbert College.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities -

  • Ability to interact professionally with coworkers and customers, particularly in conflict situations.

  • Ability to talk politely and resolve customer service issues.

  • Ability to multitask, meet specific deadlines, and prioritize tasks and assignments.

  • Skilled in general accounting practices..

  • Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and computerized accounting system) and ability to learn upgrades as needed.

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Ability to exercise good judgment and decisions in an expeditious manner.

The College may consider any equivalent amount of credentials, licensures, training, or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of this job.

Working Conditions:
Regular work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm working on campus with a few interruptions throughout the day. This position is expected to work on campus on a regular basis. Weekends or evenings are generally not required and the position is not expected to travel.

  • Mostly a sedentary position in a professional office setting with occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of no more than 10 lbs. with lifting below the waist occasionally up to 25 lbs. Will need to move within the office and building with occasional meetings in other buildings on campus.
