SUMMARY

Working with close supervision, the Intern, Accounting will be responsible for an assortment of accounting projects. The projects include the preparation of journal entries, preparation of accounting reconciliations, analysis of account activity and accounting services projects. This role interacts with multiple areas of the accounting organization and the organization. Intern may interact with his or her supervisor several times a week, perhaps daily, to receive guidance and feedback.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the preparation of journal entries related to multiple areas of the financial statements
  • Assist in preparing monthly account reconciliations for several types of balance sheet accounts
  • Review and analyze changes in account balances as part of the month-end close processes
  • Assist with special projects related to the accounting services team
  • Understands the overall concept of the company, including the brand, customer, product goals, and all other aspects of service
  • Rotates through teams within the assigned department and provides ideas to grow and improve the business
  • Accepts designated, business-focused projects to research, propose ideas and solutions, and present final project during the internship
  • Learns and becomes proficient on internal systems, processes, and policies
  • Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with other major business units throughout the GameStop organization.
  • Adhere to all organizational and professional ethical standards.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in an undergraduate or graduate program
  • Classified as a Senior in an undergraduate program or currently enrolled in a graduate program at the time of internship
  • Business related field of study preferred Accounting field of study
  • A documented GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and present state-required proof of age documents

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrable verbal, written, organizational, and professional skills
  • Demonstrable proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools
  • Possess good analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Willingness to learn and self-motivated
  • Able to follow directions
  • Prior experience in the retail or gaming industries
