Job Description:


Title: Adjunct Math Instructor


Unit: DCE


Dept.: STEM


Reports To: Dean of STEM


Expected Start Date: January 2023


General Statement of Duties:


Roxbury Community College offers a wide range of mathematics courses, including but not limited to, corequisite mathematics, calculus, statistics, quantitative reasoning, and Math for Technology


Teaching Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Provide instruction of his/her assigned course(s) such as corequisite mathematics, calculus, statistics, quantitative reasoning, and Math for Technology
  • Preparing syllabi and following course objectives for each course taught.
  • Meeting deadlines for student progress reports, recommendations and grades.
  • Responsible for creating a classroom environment which fosters students' academic growth and guides their professional development.
  • Responsible for the creation and revision of daily lesson plans.
  • Responsible for accurate record keeping of student attendance and academic progress.
  • Correct and return quizzes, tests and lab assignments in a timely manner to students.
  • Utilize instructional and audiovisual aids, and all available resources.
  • Follow a syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
  • Meets with and advises students before and after class or by appointment.
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress.
  • Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.


Requirements:


Requirements:


  • All candidates must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Engineering or related Science field.
  • One years teaching experience at the college level.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience working with students from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds who possess wide ranges of academic abilities and interests.
  • Familiarity with Jenzabar or similar online learning applications.
  • Teaching Experience at a Community College.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide diverse teaching methods to different learning styles.
  • Experience with Online teaching and OER.


Additional Information:


Salary: The Adjunct Faculty salary range is determined in accordance with the DCE Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Start Date: Spring 2023
