The Administrative Assistant works with the Program Investigator and Program Coordinator to carry out activities and workflow processes to ensure smooth efficient operations of the defined funded program or set of funded activities for the Meharry-Vanderbilt-TSU Cancer Partnership Program. Performs administrative support duties within the partnership, makes work related decisions in accordance with existing policies and procedures. May perform designated duties of immediate supervisor during periods of absence. Overall, support the Principal Investigator, and the Senior Program Coordinator.

Daily Operations

• Administers and coordinates with the Program Investigator and Senior Program Coordinator office services and the work activities of the funded NCI U54 program. Handle administrative request and queries
• Assists in the development and implementation of planning annual Program Steering Committee (PSC) meetings, and Meetings of the funded partnership program. Arranges travel plan for the PSC members. Plans, schedules and facilitates meetings of the funded program.
• Composes, formats, and types correspondence using PC applications including word processing and spreadsheets.
• Order supplies, make travel arrangements prepare reports and maintain appropriate filing systems; plan meetings and take detail minutes.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Comprehensive knowledge of institutional policies, procedures and organization structure.
• Demonstrated knowledge and proficient in use of various PC office based applications to include work processing and spreadsheets. Proficient in RedCap system
• Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong composition and editing skills
• Good organization and time management skills
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contracts
• Proficiency with use of e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation of software

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree plus one year of related experience or a minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience
