Position Summary

The purpose of the Administrative Support Coordinator I position in the Dean's Office of the College of Health and Human Services is to provide a wide range of administrative support to the students, staff and faculty of the college. The Administrative Support Coordinator I will be the first point of contact for callers and visitors to CHHS.

Under the general supervision and guidance of the Director of Resources Management, the Administrative Support Coordinator I serves as the public face of the College of Health and Human Services to visitors in person and on the phone and will assure that operations in the front office proceed as efficiently as possible. They are3, responsible for multiple work assignments including the Technology Acquisition Review Process and purchasing supplies for the office. The Administrative Support Coordinator I will assist in organizing the College's standing committees, as well as planning both routine and special internal events.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position with the possibility of reappointment. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Department Summary

The College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) faculty, through advising, teaching, and supervising, offers students a balanced education of academic study, field placement, clinical experiences, and research opportunities. CHHS consists of the following schools: the School of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, the School of Nursing, the School of Social Work, the School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences, and the School of Public Health.

Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires fundamental written and oral communication skills, including a sound foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; an ability to understand standard office procedures; an ability to operate standard office equipment; an ability to learn office technology systems; an ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations; and typing and keyboard skills.

These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through completion of a high school program or its equivalent and some experience in an office environment.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience working with MS Office
  • Experience working with Google Calendar
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a strong customer service background
  • Background in purchasing and/or travel coordination services
  • Experience in a university or other complex, policy driven organization

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $3,600 per month.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,505 - $5,508 per month.
