JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct patient consultations
  • Obtain complete, detailed, and accurate medical histories on patients. Review patient medications and records to develop a comprehensive patient specific treatment plan
  • Perform physical examinations focusing on venous insufficiency and general health of the patient
  • Document and prescribe using an electronic medical record
  • Prescribe and administer medications in accordance within state laws and standards of practice
  • Educate patients and/or families about venous insufficiency and prescribed medical treatments and/or medications
  • Refer patients to needed specialists or services that cannot be provided to patients in the clinic
  • Perform and document procedures in accordance with collaborative agreement and documentation of competency. Procedures may include:visually-guided sclerotherapy,ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy,puncture aspiration, ultrasound or visually guided,Veinwave, and/orlimited ultrasound studies/scans
  • Monitor effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
  • Collaborate with physician regarding any abnormal findings or side effects to treatment
  • Perform independent evaluations and treatment in emergency situations
  • Respond to patient telephone calls regarding medical conditions and emergencies
  • In conjunction with RN or Medical Assistant, order and maintain proper inventory of medical supplies, sclerosant solutions and maintain Emergency Drug Box/Crash cart
  • Maintain the highest skill level for the safest and most effective delivery of treatment according to VCA clinical guidelines and best practices
  • Participate in continuing education for professional growth and development
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality of patients and coworkers
  • Participate in peer review activities
  • In conjunction with administrative staff, develop and maintain relationships with other practices, physicians and nurses to set up presentations to educate on vein disease and how VCA can help their patients
  • Promote continuous improvement. Ensure high quality service is provided to all patients
  • Play an active role in the promotion of VCA
  • Maintain contact with existing patients to ensure a long-term relationship, the completion of treatment and compliance with periodic re-evaluations
  • As needed, assist the administrative staff in making follow up contact with patients
  • Participate in clinic practice building activities

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Out of state travel for up to 12 weeks during initial training may be required.
  • Local travel between clinics may be required occasionally.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
EDUCATIONAL/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Masters degree from an accredited NP or PA program
  • Current active NP or PA State licensure based on assigned clinic locations
  • Current national certification through AANP or ANCC as a Family or Adult NP
  • Current national certification through NCCPA for PA
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)
  • Ability to obtain DEA license (only applicable select states)
EXPERIENCE

  • 1 year experience in inpatient, outpatient or surgical setting required
  • Experience performing procedures preferred
