Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent

Experience: Required - 2 years' experience in crisis intervention and case management.

Strongly Preferred - 2 or more years' experience working with survivors of domestic violence and abuse/neglect or at-risk youth and families.

Summary: Provides direct care services to victims to include case management, safety planning, crises intervention and advocacy. In addition, the Advocate will be responsible for coordinating, scheduling and the facilitation of classes, data entry, adhering to curriculum guidelines and maintaining the fidelity of the curriculum. Duties also include assisting with coordinating, scheduling community outreach and awareness activities.

Essential Functions:
1. Coordinate referrals, service planning and documentation of services for assigned caseload.

2. Provide comprehensive, trauma-informed service and safety planning, include immediate risk reduction and short-term interventions focused in stabilizing families and ensuring safety.
3. Responding promptly and professionally to all calls using independent judgement and discretion. Work collaboratively with local law enforcement, medical professionals, employers, social service case workers, housing authority, legal aide, and other community partners, to provide support and case management services to identified survivors of domestic violence.
4. Transport/Travel with clients to appointments in accordance with program transportation protocol, adhering to all safety requirements
5. Travel regularly in field to meet survivors and perform other job functions using a personal vehicle, maintaining a clean driving record and proof of insurance.
6. Compile and analyze intake and referral information to assess families' needs and appropriateness for available community resources.
7. Develop, Monitor and review a plan of action with the survivor designed to create goals utilizing strengths, addressing unmet needs, safety planning, and creating a support network to prevent future violence and victimization.
8. Maintain a high quality of service for clients, community, and agency.
9. Work with Director to develop and plan implementation of the Domestic Violence Program based on contract requirements and changing needs.
10. Facilitate evidence-based violence prevention curricula with model fidelity in accordance with grant requirements and/or agency directive.
11. Facilitate trainings on hot topics such as bullying, self-respect, child abuse-recognizing and reporting and reporting to parents within San Felipe Del Rio ISD and Brackett ISD.
12. Maintain accurate records regarding delivery of services, number of attendees, hours of service, etc., in accordance with HHSC and BCFS requirements.
13. Ensure distribution of Program materials (e.g., fliers, books, newsletters, surveys) as scheduled.
14. Responsible for helping clients understand the need for surveys in order to increase participation; responsible for distributing and collecting participant and community partner surveys.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Measurable Deliverables:
1. Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position.
2. Maintain a case load in accordance with agency policies and procedures and licensing and contract standards.
3. Participate in workshops, seminars, education programs and other activities that promote professional growth and development.

4. Continually assess ongoing changes in behavior, circumstances or conditions that may affect client safety. Assessment must be trauma-informed and meet program quality expectations
5. Document progress client has made toward risk reduction, achievement of service goals and positive case outcomes.
6. Meet all documentation expectations within the program-required timelines.
7. Comply with immediate reporting and response requirements for safety-related case issues in the field.
8. Participate in weekly case staffing with Director and/or supervisor as assigned.
9. Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations.
10. Maintain BCFS HHS professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in BCFS employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, the service population, and community members and complying with required dress code always.

Credentials, Skills and Abilities:
1. Maintain current licenses and certificates required for the position including but not limited to:
• First Aid • CPR • Other ________________________________________
2. Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
3. Provide proof or work eligibility status upon request.
4. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background and motor vehicle check (fingerprints needed if applicant has lived out of state within the past 5 years)
5. Demonstrate the ability to:
a. Respond sensitively and competently to the service population's cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
b. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and Spanish.
c. Work in a fast paced environment.
d. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
e. Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
f. Travel as needed.
g. Manage time effectively and efficiently.
