Main Duties and Responsibilities

You will be an important contributor to the expanding Dynamic Omics center of excellence, which uses state-of-the-art mass spectrometry-based technology, flow cytometry and imaging to investigate a number of biological questions.

This is a key biostatistics position that aims to provide statistical and computational support to experimentalists that produce big data sets in the department. You will also be closely working together with bioinformaticians and data scientists.

This position supports cutting-edge, high throughput proteomic and metabolomic basic and translational research, as well as flow cytometry and imaging applications across our therapeutic areas. Your tasks also include support in experimental design and advanced statistical processing of omics data, developing models for imputing missing data to accurately interpret complex datasets, and developing models to permit mechanistic insights into underlying biological processes. You may also contribute to database management.

You must be a fast learner, excellent communicator and thoughtful team member. You should be highly motivated, innovative, detail-oriented, creative, well organized and able to work independently when designing and executing experiments and will be expected to manage and prioritize several different projects and tasks in line with the objectives of the group.

Essential Requirements

  • PhD in statistics, mathematics, computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, computer engineering engineering, or similar degree program
  • 0-6 years of post-doctoral experience in a relevant research area analyzing high-dimensional data, ideally proteomics, metabolomics, flow cytometry and/or imaging
  • Solid experience with biological concepts, data and information types
  • Experience related to diseases, preclinical and clinical assays, target identification and target validation, and/or patient stratification
  • Experience in some of the following core competency areas: experimental design, batch correction/normalization, missing-values imputation, data visualizations
  • Experience with one or more statistical computing languages such as R/R Shiny, Python, Shell, SAS, STATA
  • Experience with sophisticated statistical methods, machine learning and AI.
  • Proficiency in Windows and LINUX/UNIX environments
  • Experience in data management
  • An analytical aptitude for devising innovative scientific or technical solutions is highly desired
  • Ability to manage multiple collaborative projects between multiple laboratories
  • Ability to demonstrate scientific productivity and have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively cross-functionally.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, motivation, attention to detail and ability to learn new technologies, flexibility and confidence.


Desirable Requirements
  • Experience with working in a matrix organization.
  • Experience with molecular biology, cell biology, and pathophysiology is highly desired
  • Bayesian background with experience in hierarchical modeling and mixed effect models is a plus
