Job Title:Agricultural Technician 1Department:FAES | Animal Sciences Wooster Poultry Center

Provides research support at the Animal Sciences Wooster Poultry Research Facility; assists manager, faculty, graduate research associates and post-docs collecting poultry research data; operates and maintains equipment, trucks, tractors, skid loader and physical facilities; loads and unloads shavings/bedding; hauls feed, carcasses, manure with proper disposal techniques; assists with proper poultry husbandry; weighs, de-beaks and wing bands poultry; assists with dust control; pressure washes and disinfects incubators, hatchers, pens and buildings; removes litter from pens; cleans cages, manure pans and floor pans; feeds and waters poultry; assists in the isolation of poultry from outside flocks; adjusts and sanitizes poultry waterers; maintains clean buildings; handles poultry in a safe and humane manner; catches and loads poultry to be sold; assists with artificial insemination of turkeys and chickens; collects eggs and records egg production data; records mortality; reads wing bands; keeps temperature, humidity and turning records for incubator and hatcher; washes and pedigrees eggs; assists with euthanizing poultry according to protocols and processes poultry for sampling; makes and records health observations; adjusts feeder height and flow; assists in collection/ maintenance of turkey, chicken, and quail data; assists in maintaining Biosafety level 2 research standards or maintain high standards of Biosecurity; other duties as assigned. This position requires rotational weekend and holiday work. Position located in Wooster, Ohio.

The salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
