Are you our next innovation team member?

We are currently seeking an Applied Process Technology (APT) Lead, based at Mosaic's FishHawk location reporting through the Global Ag Technology & Innovation division. In this role, you will direct APT's innovation portfolio within the North America Phosphates business which includes innovative research support in new product development, new technology landscaping and chemical process research. You will lead all phases of research and development, from feasibility and laboratory development through to full scale industrial implementation. The ideal candidate will be experienced working in an industrial chemical process, as well as having experience conducting multi-phased experiments in a laboratory and pilot setting. You will actively promote the use of new technologies and applied science to seize opportunities in timely, cost effective, and innovative ways across the business. What will you do?

  • Lead and direct APT activities in a laboratory setting and support process related experiments.
  • Meet with facility Managers, Superintendents, and Engineering groups to acquire continued support for R&D activities and to act as expert change agents across the global company.
  • Encourage cross-functional collaboration by facilitating meetings to share technology with peers, site stakeholders and senior leaders.
  • Continuously search for new and novel technologies with potential to improve aspects of mining, mineral processing and product development.
  • Develop and guide the skills and talents of APT personnel. Actively foster the development of personnel through exposure to all aspects of Mosaic mining and refining processes, training, and through encouraging self-learning and creativity.
  • Hold personal and public safety as paramount and ensure environmental responsibility for all activities and improvements.
  • Exhibit qualities of an innovation ambassador with internal and external audiences, representing Mosaic and its mission at events as needed.

What does the ideal candidate have for this role?
  • Passionate about solving problems and carries an empathy for change management
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry or metallurgy
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant industrial experience in a chemical or mining operation
  • Experience in leading a cross-functional department including budget management, liaising across a global company to ensure alignment with strategic priorities
  • Act as a change agent by influencing across the organization, driving accountability, and modeling effective change management for both internal and external customers
  • A keen understanding of technical writing is a necessity, along with the ability to communicate results to different levels of the organization. This includes actively bringing together groups from across Mosaic, internationally and nationally, to discuss problems, opportunities, and innovative solutions.
  • Must be highly motivated, self-directed, and demonstrate a strategic and agile mindset.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) with advanced Excel skills is required. Power BI or other data visualization experience is preferred.
