Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.:
- Master's Degree in Library/Information Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association, or equivalent library science program.
- Evidence of continued leadership and supervision in an academic and/or research library.
- Experience with research data management plans/toolkit.
- Knowledge of metadata standards and schema.
- Knowledge of Open Science and Open Data initiatives.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Ability to build and sustain effective working relationships and work collaboratively in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with digital repository platforms, such as DSpace, Islandora, and/or CONTENTdm.
- Experience with digital publishing and exhibit platforms, such as Open Journal Systems and/or Omeka.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the evolving landscape of open and public data, data ethics, and data sharing.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and contribution to the library profession.
- Experience with data analytics and visualization tools.
- Experience planning, developing, and promoting innovative outreach programs and services.
Job Description:The Assistant Director of Research Data Services is responsible for the leadership and management of the Texas State University Libraries Research Data Services team. The position assists researchers at all stages of the research lifecycle by implementing innovative, sustainable solutions to foster scholarly content creation and stewardship. This position involves collaborating with various university stakeholders, designing and overseeing workflows, cultivating partnerships, and advocating for policies and best practices in scholarly communication. The person in this role will have the opportunity to influence diverse areas of scholarly communication, including digital repositories, research data management, library-based digital publishing, open science, data analytics, and data visualization.
Job Duties:
- Lead and manage the Research Data Services team to support researchers effectively.
- Design and implement creative, sustainable solutions to facilitate scholarly content creation and stewardship.
- Foster collaboration and build partnerships across the university to promote best practices in scholarly communication.
- Oversee and actively participate in the development and maintenance of digital repositories and research data management systems.
- Promote open science initiatives and advance data analytics and data visualization capabilities.
