Job Description

Summary

  • Manages and directs all distribution network isolations and repairs to ensure minimal customer impact and maximum fire flow. Manages the deployment and analytics of advanced leak detection technology to reduce non-revenue water.

Primary Duties / Responsibilities

  • Provides direction to the System Maintenance and Engineering departments on isolations for large main maintenance and repair with respect to the impact of the distribution system
  • Assists in developing and operating the hydraulic models with the Engineering Department
  • Provides subject matter expertise to the Veolia NJ's Operations, Engineering, & System Maintenance departments to prioritize projects for the DSIC program
  • Position requires the knowledge of Veolia New Jersey regulatory environment and company policies
  • Monitor the distribution system pressures, pumping district flows and tank levels and the overall performance of the distribution network
  • Implement and maintain a leak detection program throughout the distribution system and track the repairs until completed. Continuously researching for new smart technology in the industry for leak detection
  • Monitor lab sample reports for low chlorine and bacterial results and determine necessary remedial activities
  • Develop and maintain flushing plans for the distribution network
  • Providing a learning environment for the required staff regarding how the distribution system operates
  • Maintain a safe working environment while encouraging all employees to continue to report any unsafe conditions
  • Encourage supervision to become great leaders in the water industry

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background

  • A Bachelor degree in Science. (Preferred)
  • 15 - 20 years of experience in engineering or water utility operation

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Expertise with operations and maintenance of water distribution systems
  • Strong managerial, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Able to utilize Microsoft Office
  • Experience in managing and adhering to project budgets and schedules
  • Employ critical thinking with discretion and independent judgement
  • Able to write and update standard operating procedures

Required Certification / Licenses / Training

  • A NJDEP W-4 is mandatory or in the process of obtaining
