School of Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy (Twelve-month, Assistant Professor) - to teach courses in the areas of cardiovascular/pulmonary, anatomy, human and exercise physiology with additional academic support in kinesiology/biomechanics. Expertise in additional areas of physical therapist practice including, but not limited to: practice management, research and musculoskeletal will be considered. Faculty must have the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in team-taught courses.

Qualifications: Doctorate degree (Ph.D, Ed.D or the equivalent) in Physical Therapy or a health related field; licensed Physical Therapist in the State of New Jersey or eligible to be licensed to practice physical therapy in the State of New Jersey; a minimum of three years of teaching experience in a physical therapist education program; and a minimum of three years of experience in physical therapy clinical practice is required. ABD candidates and non-physical therapists with an earned academic doctorate will be considered. Candidate must have a track record of scholarly productivity or demonstrated potential for success in peer-reviewed publications.

This is a twelve-month, full-time, tenure-track assignment at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective for the Fall 2021 semester. Teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, weekend and online courses. Courses may be taught at the Union campus, Kean Ocean, Kean Skylands or other locations. Faculty positions located in the Nathan Weiss Graduate College may require evening hours for graduate course assignments.

All tenure-track faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and an on-going program of research and publication or creative and performance activity. Participation in curriculum development, student advisement and service at the departmental/school, college, university and community level is also required. Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. Proficiency in the Learning Management System, Blackboard and Online Learning Pedagogy is required, consistent with University guidelines. Kean may offer free voluntary Blackboard workshops to otherwise qualified applicants.
