The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences (NRES) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (https://nres.illinois.edu) is seeking qualified applicants for a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position with 60% research and 40% teaching responsibilities as an Assistant Professor in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation.

We are seeking candidates who conduct empirically based research on the ecology of terrestrial vertebrates with an applied focus on conservation, restoration, or management. While the specific area of research is not restricted, we are seeking candidates with strong quantitative skills. Candidates who adopt a range of methodological approaches suitable for wildlife ecology and conservation biology are preferred. Candidates with experience in interdisciplinary collaborations that span the natural, physical, and social sciences will be reviewed favorably, especially candidates that can show expertise in linking disciplines reflected within NRES. The successful candidate should also demonstrate excellence in teaching and mentoring students, as well as contributing to the university's land grant mission.

A Ph.D. in an appropriate field is required. The successful applicant will be expected to secure extramural funding, recruit, and mentor graduate students, publish regularly in leading peer-reviewed scientific journals, and teach and advise at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Teaching responsibilities will include Wildlife Population Ecology (NRES 407), and one other course based on the incumbent's area of expertise and consistent with the curriculum needs of the Department. Contributions to field courses and other experiential learning opportunities will be valued.
