POSITION SUMMARY:

Alma College seeks an engaging teacher and conductor to lead the Alma College choirs. The choral program includes: Alma Choir (SATB ensemble with a decades-long history of concerts, recording, and national and international touring); Chorale (treble voice choir); and Alma Acapella (contemporary a cappella ensemble that performs music in treble, TB, and SATB voicings). Additional teaching responsibilities in one or more of these areas: conducting; music education; voice. Primary recruiting responsibility for the vocal/choral program. Typical teaching load is six units per year. This is a full time, tenure track position.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- A Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in choral music (or all but dissertation).
- Conducting/teaching experience at the collegiate and high school level with strong vocal and keyboard skills.
- A proven track-record of successful student recruiting and program growth.
- An understanding of the role choirs play in the life of a liberal arts college and its students.
