We are seeking a dynamic individual to develop and lead the comprehensive talent development and employee programming strategy for Walker & Dunlop. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in training and organizational development.

Position Summary:

Analyze, consolidate, and enhance enterprise-wide experience and learning opportunities for all levels, including new hires, midlevels, managers, and leadership. Ensure execution of day-to-day operations, including planning, acquiring, and/or conducting training programs that assist employees in gaining skills and knowledge specifically related to job requirements and career growth. Work with HR Business Partner team, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Lead, and Talent Acquisition to integrate programming with corporate goals and drive organizational performance.

Position Responsibilities:

Learning and Development:

  • Create comprehensive experience and talent development strategy for entry level to senior level employees serving in corporate and sales functions.
    • Manage Onboarding Manager to deliver best in class onboarding experience and programming. Support the Walker & Dunlop Colleague Connect program, which introduces new employees to the Walker Way.
    • Support Company-wide annual intern program.
    • Develop and implement both manager and analyst training programs that are engaging, well-adopted, and facilitate the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary for long-term success and continued growth in their roles. Operationalize the training programs to run cyclically.
    • Plan a calendar of programs for staff to utilize to improve relationship building, W&D culture training, and soft skills; gain knowledge of Company culture; improve administrative procedures; and acquire business knowledge relevant to the Company's lines of business.
    • Partner with HR Business Partner Team to understand performance management process outcomes and succession planning needs, adjusting training plans as necessary.
  • Manage the Workday learning platform to empower employees and managers to own their individual career development.
    • Work with HR Business Partner Team to develop and update career continua for all departments.
    • Develop engaging learning experiences to include micro-learning for individuals and teams.
    • Curate and build catalogue of offerings, maintain program database, and develop and facilitate learning and engagement programs for all employees (e.g. shadowing, and business orientation meetings).
    • Form and maintain partnerships with key strategic eLearning and other vendors to deliver professional and compliance training. (One Digital, Mortgage Bankers Association, Blue Ocean Brain, American Management Association, etc.).
  • Manage and expand existing employee development programs (e.g., Mentoring Circles, Men High Potential Program, Book Club).
  • Maintain transparent measures for programs and assess ROI. Plan and manage the programming budget. Approve and track expenditures. Identify opportunities for savings for group training and certification.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience
    • Including a minimum of 5 years directly related to learning & development
  • SPHR or PHR a plus.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Self-starter with the ability to anticipate potential situations, resolutions, and departmental needs.
  • Ability to use sound judgment to take action with minimal supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; exceptional attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations to, communicate and interact with all levels inside and outside of the Company.
  • Developed understanding of inclusion and welcoming values; vision to lead inclusion commitment with transforming energy.
  • Ability to team actively and take responsibility for performance contributions with excellence in project management and execution.
