General Description:

We are seeking an Assistant Vice President, Maritime Services Group.

This is an Assistant Vice President position within the G&C subsidiary and a Business Area Manager with the Leidos organization. This position reports to the G&C Vice President of the Maritime Services Group. This position requires significant program management experience with a strong maritime technical background. The ideal candidate will possess entrepreneurial skills and be able to demonstrate consistent success at growing and managing maritime industry business, with particular emphasis on supporting U.S. Government ship acquisition and sustainment programs. Strong leadership and mentorship abilities are required as this role directly manages a team of program managers and support staff.

Responsibilities in this role include:

  • Assist the Vice President to define and implement a strategic plan to grow and maintain our Government Services portfolio supporting the U.S. Navy, USCG, and other agencies with maritime components.
  • Assist the Vice President to define and implement a strategic plan to grow and maintain our Autonomous and Unmanned Vehicle support to the U.S. Government.
  • Assist the Vice President to develop and maintain business management processes, people, and staff capable to develop, bid plan, staff, implement, manage, and monitor both large and small programs
  • Attract staff, motivate, and lead a disciplined and focused program staff team
  • Work with technical staff on solving complex technical problems for clients
  • Command excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Have a proven track record of successfully interacting with customers regarding both technical and strategic business issues
  • Be a proven collaborator with superiors, peers, and staff
  • Have solid organizational and time management abilities
  • Possess the personal style needed to work in an energetic and growing company

Minimum Requirements

The successful candidate should have demonstrated experience in all the following areas: business development, contract negotiation, contract management, systems engineering, total ship integration and program management. In addition, it is critical that this person have a solid understanding of ship engineering and design for the U.S. Navy and other U.S. Government agencies.
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years' experience in providing engineering and program management services in the maritime industry with at least 5 years in a senior management role
  • Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a similar relevant engineering discipline highly desirable. Experience related to the job requirements will be considered in lieu of an engineering degree.
  • Experience in executing U.S. Navy program management and engineering services contracts.
  • Experience in Government contract capture, proposal, pricing and execution.
  • Experience in managing a variety of contract types including cost-type and fixed-price type contracts.
  • A master's degree in business, systems engineering, or management is desired.
  • A professional engineering (PE) and project management (PMP) certification is desired.
Security Requirements
Applicant will be subject to a security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government. In addition to the security clearance, this position may require an additional background screening for base access.
