Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Administration, Communications, Marketing, or related appropriate field required.
Five years of demonstrated administrative experience, with experience in friend-raising, community service and fundraising.
Three years of successful work experience in developing proposals for foundation and/or corporate fundraising

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Administration, Communications, Marketing, or related field required.
Experience in higher education fundraising
Experience with fundraising software systems such as Blackbaud Raiser's Edge, Banner Advancement, etc.


General Function:

The Assistant Vice President ofCorporate and Foundation Services administratively is responsible to theExecutive Vice President for Business and Finance at Motlow State CommunityCollege. The Assistant Vice President of Corporate and Foundation Services willbe an ex-officio member of the Motlow College Foundation Executive Committeeand serves as Secretary for the Board of Trustees of the Motlow CollegeFoundation. The Assistant Vice President of Corporate and Foundation Servicesis to create and implement a Foundation fundraising strategy. Primaryresponsibilities include researching potential partnership connections thatenhance student opportunities and academic programs, as well as preparing andsubmitting funding applications and proposals to corporations, privatefoundations, and family foundations. This position is responsible for ensuringstewardship and reporting requirements regarding progress updates and fundsutilized for funded projects. The Assistant Vice President of Corporate and FoundationServices will assist in ensuring that the College has sufficientprivate resources to carry out its mission.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop, implement and manage a comprehensive and strategic corporate and industry relations partnership program in support of the College's fundraising goals and objectives.

Develop, plan and implement strategies to secure corporate, organization and foundation gifts in support of fund-raising priorities. Manage all fundraising activities relative to industry partners as well as initiates, plans and coordinates the development of prospect and donor cultivation, proposals and letters of inquiry, solicitations and stewardship of gifts. Responsible for stewardship and oversight of gifts and grants from corporations and partners.  Ensure gift fulfilment in the awarding and stewarding of funds established by charitable donations from corporations and partners.

Maintain positive relationships with the business, corporate, civic, governmental, and education community including but not limited to Motlow State's eleven-county service area.   Ensure that all relationships are in the best interest of the Foundation and in conformity with the overall objectives and policies of the Foundation.

Maintain and grow a portfolio of Corporate and Foundation prospects and manage portfolio through all phases of the development process:  discovery/assessment, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

Ensure that the Trustees, Executive Committee, and the Foundation Officers are kept fully informed on the conditions and operations of the Foundation and on all important factors influencing them.Attends all meetings of the Foundation Officers, Trustees, the Executive Committee and sub-committees.

Oversight in awarding Foundation scholarships to students.  Assures funding for the scholarship is available prior to awarding the scholarship.

Oversight in planning and executing various Foundation fundraising events, including but not limited to annual gala and golf tournaments.

Assist in executing the decisions of the Executive Committee and the Trustees.

Plan, formulate, and recommend for the approval of the Executive Committee and Trustees the basic policies, programs and services that will further the objectives of the Foundation.Evaluates the results of the program activities and recommend action to improve outcomes.

Provide the necessary liaison and staff support to Trustee committee chairs and to committee members to enable them to properly perform their functions.  Assures that committee decisions and recommendations are submitted to the Executive Committee and/or to Trustees for approval.

Oversight, plan and administrate Foundation Board meetings.  Record and maintain official minutes of the Foundation Executive Committee and other Foundation official meetings; provide security for all files, legal and historic documents, mailing lists, and donor files.

Plan and execute communications to the Foundation's donors and potential donors, including general mailings, news releases, etc.

Coordinate with the External Affairs Division regarding Foundation media and publications.

Assist with planning, guidance, and innovation for the college's development and resource building activities, including fundraising for annual and major gift campaigns and athletic activities.

Manage all alumni relations and outreach programs for alumni.  Responsible for building and keeping current alumni database.

Help develop and administer an annual budget for the Foundation in concert with the Executive Vice President for Business and Finance; manage Foundation expenditure account.

Manage and coordinate the Faculty and Adjunct Faculty Excellence Awards nomination and selection process.

Ensure institutional compliance with internal policies, Tennessee Board of Regents policies and guidelines, Tennessee Higher Education Commission policies and guidelines, SACS Commission on Colleges requirements and standards, and state and federal laws related to the Advancement Department and the Foundation.

Perform other duties as assigned by the President or the Executive Vice President for Business and Finance.



KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Ability to administer private, nonprofit service organizations, including and understanding of the legal responsibilities and constraints of such organizations.

Knowledge of college development industry trends in higher education.

Knowledge of current/effective management tactics and practices.

Excellent writing, prospect research, and communication capabilities.

Ability to obtain external gifts and grants and to obtain and manage contracts and capital campaigns

Excellent organizational, interpersonal and networking skills in large groups as well as with individuals.

Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects and complete them in a timely manner.

Self-motivated, capable of working independently, can set and consistently achieve goals.

Familiarity with and demonstrated ability to use appropriate business software applications.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with federal, state, regional, and local agencies, community leaders, and the general public.

Ability to express oneself clearly and effectively in oral and written form.

Knowledge of available public and private resources.

Knowledge of fund raising techniques and planned giving principles.
