Position Overview

The Engineering, Maintenance, Reliability and Automation Leader is responsible for the reliability of our capital assets. This position ensures effective equipment design to meet EHS, legal and operational requirements as well as effective maintenance practices to sustain and to improve the level of functionality required by the business.
Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Coordinate the utilization of available equipment and human resources to manufacture products at the most economical costs consistent with meeting quality standards and preserving employee and equipment safety.
  • Direct, develop and train personnel to establish a Plant organization that effectively and continually functions smoothly and efficiently, with individuals capable of handling greater responsibilities.
  • Coaching and mentoring with craftspeople through the skill assessment process will be required.
  • Help establish and implement maintenance, operational, and capital budgets along with performance objectives, development plans, goals and programs to contribute to maximization of return on investment of the unit.
  • Establish and enforce policies and practices required to provide safe equipment, a safe working environment and safe work practices.
  • Promote EHS policy, implement the EHS management system and ensure continual improvement of EHS performance in day-to-day operations.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and safe working conditions at all times.
Qualifications:
  • Engineering Degree with Lean Six Sigma preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience in aluminum industry preferred.
  • Minimum five years relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience
  • Managed major engineering projects.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to communicate with all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to manage conflict in a direct, yet respectful manner.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload; must be able to manage multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail.
  • Must be flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid computer skills with software applications proficiency, including Microsoft Office and SAP.
Location Profile

Novelis' Berea facility is located in Berea Kentucky near Lexington. With 140 employees the recycling facility processes approximately 20 percent of all aluminum cans recycled in the United States each year - more than 750 million pounds. Berea is best known for its art festivals historic restaurants and buildings and as the home to Berea College and nearby Eastern Kentucky University. The recently built Kentucky Artisan Center hosts a wide variety of works by Kentucky artisans.
