Job Description Summary
This position provides leadership and assists in managing division operations and instructional programming of the General Studies Division throughout the Fox Valley Technical College District in alignment with the vision, mission, values, and purposes of the organization. The associate dean directly supervises the Math and Science departments, the Associate of Arts and Associate of Science - University Transfer programs, the Teaching and Learning Center, Testing and Assessment Services, and related staff within the division, and serves in a back-up capacity for the division dean.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Coordinate instructional programming and curriculum.

  • Manage focused areas of instructional programming and related staff as assigned.
  • Serve as the division liaison to all regional centers and campuses to ensure the development of, and consistency in, the delivery of instruction, involving department chairs as appropriate.
  • Assist in coordination for General Studies contract training scheduling, staffing and delivery.
  • Provide overall coordination and ensure the development, modification, and documentation of division curriculum within state and district policy.
  • Actively lead and support student academic assessment strategies, ensuring that student learning is assessed and documented.
  • Support the development of new programming in the division.
  • Serve as liaison to other divisions re: curriculum development and modification to ensure relevant and practical application of general studies curriculum to occupational programs.
  • Facilitate departments' program evaluation and documentation through the internal Program Vitality Process and accreditation processes, as applicable.


2. Provide leadership in developing flexible program and course delivery options for the division.
  • Foster and coordinate the use of alternative delivery in divisional programming.
  • Assist in the development, coordination, and oversight of high school articulations and other K-12 partnerships.
  • Serve as lead for the Associate of Arts and Associate of Science University Transfer programs, maintaining agreements, MOU's, curriculum, marketing, mentoring program, advisory committee, and data/statistics related to the programs.
  • Provide leadership and support for the development and coordination of shared degree programs with other technical college districts and articulated programs with four-year colleges, as appropriate.
  • Participate in state-wide General Education initiatives.


3. Assist in division-level planning, budget development, and budget management.
  • Assist in developing, managing, and monitoring division budgets as assigned.
  • Assist in conducting annual operational planning (prioritization, implementation, and evaluation) in areas such as facilities, computer technology, equipment, etc.
  • Develop projects, grants, and corporate partnerships to aid in program updates, modifications, and new program development.

4. Assist with overall division management.
  • Hire, supervise, direct, and evaluate division faculty and staff as assigned. Manage adjunct faculty hiring, orientation, mentoring, and evaluation.
  • Assist in the continuous monitoring and improvement of division productivity utilizing key indicators such as FTE production, numbers served, cost effectiveness, contract services revenue and cost recovery, faculty workloads, class sizes, program inquiries and applications, graduate, and placement data (monitor by overall division and by program).
  • Direct necessary adjustments in staff effort, assignment priorities, resources, and collaboration with other departments of the college to meet productivity goals and outcomes.
  • Ensure that continuous improvement efforts are implemented in the division through well-managed and well-documented projects.
  • Serve as a member of the General Studies Division Leadership Team to facilitate communications and coordinate division operations.
  • Provide leadership to functional and cross-functional teams as assigned within the division.
  • Assist in coordination of division professional development planning, internal training, and continuing education programming.


SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Address student issues as appropriate.
  • Serve as a division liaison to Student Services regarding program admissions, enrollment, and graduation, involving department chairs and faculty as appropriate.
  • Provide direction for the development and maintenance of active advisory committees for assigned programs, addressing district policy requirements. Develop and maintain community linkages appropriate to the role of associate dean.
  • Participate on institutional committees, projects, task forces, etc. as appropriate.
  • Assist with Adult Education/English Language Learning initiatives.


QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
  • Master's degree in educational leadership, secondary education, post-secondary general education, or General Studies academic area.
  • Three years of managerial supervisory experience is required, preferably at the community/technical college level.
  • Demonstrated leadership success in an educational setting.
  • Two years of teaching experience is required, preferably at the community/technical college level.
  • Two years of occupational experience outside the field of education is required.

ESSENTIAL APTITUDES, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
  • Ability to work effectively with administrators, faculty, support staff, students, employers, and business/community representatives.
  • Experience in curriculum development, with emphasis on competency-based instruction. Commitment to student learning and student success.
  • Experience in planning and implementing a variety of learning options through alternative forms of delivery and applying technology to teaching and learning.
  • Experience in the development and delivery of customized training programs for business/agency clients.
  • Commitment to customer service and continuous improvement.


Additional Information
Pay: 87,500.00- 140,100.00 per year
Pay is based on a multitude of factors, including experience, qualifications, education, relevant certifications, internal equity, and market data. Note: Internal applicants' wage will be based upon the applicable compensation structure.
