Position Summary

The Associate Scientist supports research in new combination product medical device technologies and provides knowledge to product development in areas of analytical chemistry. The scientist is responsible for aspects of HPLC operations including, sample preparation, maintenance, and scheduling.

Principal Responsibilities

• HPLC Operation - Basic knowledge of chromatographic theory and method development processes
• Sample Preparation - Basic understanding of analytical techniques used to isolate analytes in a complex matrix
• Instrument Maintenance - Basic understanding of Agilent 1200 HPLC systems to recognize and address system performance issues, including the ability to perform routine preventative maintenance.
• Design and execute experiments with high-quality standards including sample preparation, statistical data analysis, and notebook compilation with minimal guidance
• Compile experimental study reports and present summarized results in technical meetings
• Work effectively with a team to achieve results and clearly communicate scientific observations
• Participate in routine lab maintenance, inspections, organization, and instrument calibrations
• Review peer documentation and perform literature searches as necessary
• The ability to work effectively in a small project team environment to meet aggressive timelines
• Adhere to and ensure the compliance of Teleflex's Code of Ethics, all Company policies, rules, procedures, and housekeeping standards.

Education / Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field such as chemistry, engineering, biochemistry, or equivalent
• One to three years' hands-on chromatography (HPLC) experience in a scientific setting

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

• Familiarity with chromatography software (Agilent ChemStation, Waters Empower)
• Knowledge of one of the following a bonus
o Polymer chemistry
o Microbiology techniques
o Spectroscopy (FTIR, UV/Vis, etc.) and Microscopy (Light, Fluorescent, SEM, etc.)
• Knowledge of statistical analysis
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
