What to expect:

Martin Marietta is seeking an Automation Specialist to jointhe Enterprise Engineering Services Team as part of the Automation Group. The Automation Group is responsible for providing world-class plant automation for the enterprise through projects, operations support, and operational excellence initiatives.

This position will report to the Director of Automation Engineering and be based in the Indianapolis, Indiana area.

A typical day for an Automation Specialist may include:

  • Being a good Wingman in supporting Martin Marietta's safety culture and regulatory compliance by always adhering to and monitoring for compliance with the company's safety policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshootingand maintaining the existing automated systems including but not limited to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and Operator Interface Terminals (OITs).
  • Assisting plants in coordinating contract or in-house electrical repairs and upgrades related to the plant controls.
  • Actively researching potential upgrades and fine-tuning existing plant controls using Automation Engineering Standards to optimize plants.
  • Supporting existing systems via a 24/7 on-call rotation with other automation support personnel.
  • Collaborating and communicating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Providing on-site assistance in the commissioning of projects.

You may be a good fit if you:

  • Are highly skilled at troubleshooting 120V AC and 24V DC control systems.
  • Have 3Ph/480 electrical troubleshooting experience.
  • Have a minimum two years troubleshooting PLCs using programming software.
  • Are available to travel with overnight stays and have flexible work hours.
  • Have experience working on and troubleshooting sensors using 4-20ma or I/O link, full voltage starters, VFDs, and soft starts.
  • Canworkand communicate clearlywith people atalllevels.
  • Be ableto trainoperators, electricians, and other operations personnelin the use of the automation systems.Have a general understanding of aggregate plants and how they operate or possess the motivation to gain that knowledge.
  • Are comfortable working on a computer.
  • Have experience troubleshooting O/T networking including TCP/IP (layer 1 issues, pings & network scans) and using industrial protocols such as PROFINET, Ethernet IP, and Modbus TCP.
  • At least a 2-year technical degree in electrical technology or similar is preferred. Multiple years of related work experience will be considered in place of a degree.
