JOB SUMMARY

The Boat Rental Manager is responsible managing the day to day operations of the Boat Rental Department in addition to maintaining the rental boat fleet.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in the hiring, scheduling, and termination of Boat Rental Department employees.
  • Train, oversee, and evaluate staff during their daily job functions.
  • Conduct monthly departmental staff meetings.
  • Delegate work and / or authority to ensure the smooth operation of the department..
  • Implement and maintain department policies.
  • Ensure that rental customers are provided with comprehensive orientations for the safe handling and operation of rental boats and equipment.
  • Maintain strong, effective inventory and quality control of supplies needed for maintenance, rental repairs, and office supplies.
  • Oversee the rental houseboat fleet to include scheduling, maintenance and turnaround).
  • Check with supervisors to insure all rental boats have been inspected for cleanliness and operating efficiency daily prior to rental.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of all safety procedures.
  • Enforce staff and contractor compliance to environmental requirements or guidelines.
  • Ensure applicable safety and environmental requirements are incorporated into department standard operating procedures or other work instructions and reports.
  • Identify assigned staff requiring environmental training.
  • Communicate safety and environmental issues, concerns and / or changes during departmental operational reviews or meetings.
  • See that customer complaints, requests, and comments are acted upon quickly and judiciously to provide excellent customer service and protect the company interest.
  • Initiate, instruct, and follow-up on a continual boat refurbishment plan.
  • Implement extensive safety precautions and a course of action to handle emergencies.
  • Keep all areas of boat rentals in the highest order of cleanliness and safety.
  • Assist rental customers and visitors to dock vessels as needed.
  • Drive and operate a company vehicle (pickup truck, van, golf cart or any watercraft in the fleet).
  • Provide information to customers regarding the resort, the general area, and all upcoming resort activities.
  • Provide information to customers regarding the rental vessels and vessel rental procedures and requirements.
  • Maintain enthusiasm and morale for yourself and others and work cohesively with all other CBRM departments.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a polite attitude to promote professionalism and a high standard of excellence.
  • Swift handling or notification of management concerning hazards or problems.
  • Supervise and assist in the program for Green Procurement.
  • Learn and follow all company and property safety and environmental policies/procedures and rules/regulations (i.e.; ISO, EMS, and HAZ COM).
  • Know and follow all company, Environmental, Health and Safety Management Program policies and procedures.
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Strong leadership/communication skills.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Requires-kayak/SUP experience.
  • NASBLA certification
  • Valid drivers license
  • Minimum two (2) years working in a rental boat operation with increasing responsibility, including staff supervision, heavy customer service interaction or equivalent customer service industry experience.
  • Valid boater's Education card and extensive knowledge of vessel operation and maintenance, with the ability to safely operate and dock all vessels in the rental fleet (up to 75').
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record including safe driving skills and ability.
  • Familiar with all rental boat contracts, maintenance and inventory checklists, and all attendant forms for daily operations and reports.
  • Ability to perform office duties and complete daily money-handling procedures through deposits.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with customers and co-workers and maintain a calm and pleasant attitude while under stress.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to train with fellow employees.
  • Knowledge and ability to learn and follow all company and property safety and environmental policies/procedures and rules/regulations (i.e.; ISO, EMS, and HAZ COM).
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES
  • Stand/remain upright, walk/move throughout the building.
  • Stand/remain standing for several hours, up to 4 hours at a time throughout entire shift.
  • Step into and onto boats to and from docks safely.
  • Bend up and down, kneel, stoop and/or squat occasionally.
  • Turn and twist repetitively.
  • Reach down, forward and overhead.
  • Sit/remain seated at a computer for up to 4 hours a day, usually 2 hours at a time.
  • Use a PC with dual monitors, keyboard and mouse and telephone, continuously throughout the day.
  • Available to work any shift, any day of the week with the possibility of several hours of overtime during periods of high visitation. Subject to 'on-call' status after hours.
  • Carry and use a VHF radio.
  • Perform physical and manual labor.
  • Work with oil, propane and fuel pump dispensers.
  • Visual acuity and depth perception to properly drive and park work boats, company vehicles and to recognize hazards.
  • Manual dexterity to control large boats safely and efficiently during docking process.
  • Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions including extreme cold, heat and storms, for entire shift.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently on a daily basis.
