Job Description

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. is seeking an experienced Team Leader to perform NBIS Bridge Inspections for our NJ offices. The successful candidate will lead a team in the field inspection and report development for Routine and Major/Complex Bridges and perform field condition assessment of existing structures for the design of rehabilitation projects. The position will require the ability to work comfortably above ground level, including access equipment, ladders, and protected climbing.

Responsibilities:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in New Jersey
  • Additional licensure in Pennsylvania and Connecticut
  • Experience with FHWA Element Level inventories and inspections
  • NBIS bridge inspection and report development experience with NJDOT, NJTA, NJ TRANSIT, DRPA, PANYNJ, and PennDOT
  • Certification and experience with confined space inspections
  • Field inspection and report development for ancillary structures such as minor bridges/culverts, retaining walls, sign structures, and high mast lighting standards
  • Field inspection and report development for bridge rehabilitation design
  • Proficiency with bridge load ratings in accordance with AASHTO LRFR approach and using load rating software such as AASHTOWare's BrR (formerly Virtis), LARS Bridge, WYDOT's BRASS-Girder (BRASS), and PennDOT's BAR 7
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • NBIS Certifications for Team Leader and Fracture Critical Member (FCM) inspections
  • Five years minimum (or three years with PE) Team Leader experience.
  • Field inspection and report development experience on Major/Complex Bridges
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Read, write, and understand plans and direction given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to stand for approximately 3 hours minimum a day up to 8 hours
  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19\" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
  • Able to move equipment or inspection specimens weighing up to 50 pounds
