Summary

Oversees the day-to-day reporting, analysis of historical information, projections, and budget proposal process within the Budget Department.

Essential Competencies, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Very strong Excel skills required including data manipulation, pivot tables, graphics, formatting, v-lookups and advanced formulas.
  • Automate data driven manual processes to help streamline accurate insights.
  • Strong knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
  • Responsible for the budget functions relating to Requests for Proposal, Deltek Budgeting and Planning System, projections, and work plans.
  • Update and review company work plan budgets to attain accurate Estimate to Complete (ETC) for projects.
  • Track and review project modifications report to update or revise company budgets as needed resulting from funding and unit changes.
  • Critically look at budgets and ask follow-up questions to ensure that all costs have been accounted for when preparing Requests for Proposals.
  • Review necessary and appropriate information that contribute to planning, proposal preparation, and responses to customers that relate to budgeting and reporting activities.
  • Create executive summaries and comparison reports for executive management and project leads to assist in the decision-making process.
  • Assist in company process improvements for new company software, protocols, reporting etc.
  • Project deadlines may necessitate occasional extended work hours.

Additional Tasks

  • Perform other various ad hoc reporting.
  • Ability to work independently in performing job duties.
  • Ability to research and find answers before presenting problems.
  • Ability to write policies and procedures as they are added.
 

Education and/or Experience

  • BS in Financial/Accounting field. MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in budgeting and accounting, preferably some experience in government contracting/cost accounting or financial area.

Other Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
