If you are passionate about the commercial Earth observation industry and want to take a critical role in helping to grow it over the coming years, this position offers a unique chance to have outsized impact.

Externally, you will meet the most creative and effective entrepreneurs across the industry globally as they work to integrate SAR into their products and services. You will help them grow their businesses by referring new sales leads to them where appropriate, connecting them to likeminded entrepreneurs they can partner with, and introducing them to qualified candidates you meet along the way.

Internally, your role will be to create and implement a qualifying process, identify and escalate strategic opportunities, and accelerate adoption of our self-service tasking platform across the industry. You will identify and relay opportunities for R&D, for product enhancements, and for entirely new lines of business. You will coordinate closely with the marketing and customer success functions to create the best end-to-end customer experience in the satellite imagery industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and execute a repeatable process for all incoming leads, creating qualifying standards for discerning between commercial and Umbra Government Programs (UGP) opportunities
  • Fill pipeline with qualified opportunities and escalate strategic accounts across both USG and commercial
  • Implement processes to accelerate pace of onboarding commercial customers, and work with Customer Success to prioritize customer needs and level of importance based on usage and repeatable business
  • Work with Customer Success team to identify opportunities to refer disqualified leads to analytics and services partners
  • Work with Marketing to identify areas and use cases for increased lead generation where customer success has exceeded expectations
  • Ensure high rigor for documentation and tracking in our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and enhance/streamline documentation practices

Basic Qualifications
  • Availability to travel 1-2 times per quarter for conferences and sales trips
  • Direct experience in the exploitation of commercial satellite imagery
  • Demonstrated aptitude for sales and/or business development in complex, consultative engagements
  • Aptitude for understanding technical concepts and explaining them to lay audiences
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Desire to work in a dynamic and fast-paced startup environment

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in a sales engineering, sales, or business development role
  • Skill designing, implementing, and scaling formal business processes
  • Experience working with remote sensing data in an applied setting
