This role has significant relationships and responsibilities outside the local team, including working with the Leadership team, who is responsible for the higher level feature backlog in Azure DevOps. Product Owner responsibilities include gathering feature requests, scheduling releases and coordinating sprints. To be successful in this role, you should be able to identify user needs and work with cross-functional teams to manage product releases. Ultimately help the project roll-out products that delivers our product goal.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of Product Owner experience
  • 8+ years of overall experience within the software implementation and SCRUM environment
  • Experience working cross-functionally with technical teams and stake holders/end users.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project leadership, Product Managers, Product Engineers, User Representatives and Change Management and other Scrum team members
  • This candidate must have previous experience working directly with developers, data engineers and testers in a full stack software development environment
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves to resolve design issues, write user stories, test software and drive a team towards delivery
  • Experience developing a mature/refined backlog
  • Ability to articulate experience navigating through developing a product through design, vision and collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently, take on challenges and focus on successful delivery of the product.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Participates and contributes as a subject matter expert on Product Roadmaps, Product Vision, and SDLC in support of the new development of a web application.
  • Assists in developing Key Decision content related to process re-engineering
  • Assists Product Managers in developing and maintaining the feature roadmap for development and release activities
  • Works with Product Engineers, End Users, developers and testers on scrum teams daily; ideally co-located with the scrum team
  • Defines acceptance criteria for all user stories
  • Works with User Representatives to solicit feedback from end user about story grooming, functionality issues and software demos
  • Reviews and provides feedback on features and the feature roadmap as they are developed
  • Answer questions and help developers make decisions about stories during development and testing
  • Contributes to defining User Acceptance test scenarios
  • Sign off on Release testing prior to a production release
  • Provide formal input to leaders on Go, No-Go decision making prior to go live
  • Provide hands on support to users immediately after go-live
  • Capture problems experienced by end users and report issues to the program team after go-live
Additional Pointers:
  • Collaborates with customers to co-develop a backlog and drive products and features from concept to launch in a fast-paced environment.
  • Works in an Agile environment and continuously reviews the business needs, refines priorities, outlines milestones and deliverables, and identifies opportunities and risks.
  • Partners with stakeholders and customers across the organization to inform the product vision, strategy, features, and prioritization.
  • Develops, owns, and executes product backlog.
  • Translates product backlog features into well-defined product requirements including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria.
  • Leads the product functional design process based on an intimate knowledge of the users and technology.
  • Develops and maintains appropriate tracking and reporting of product performance post-launch to evaluate future investment.
  • During Development Sprints, this PO will be responsible for:
  • Working with Product Engineers, End Users, developers and testers on scrum teams daily; ideally co-located with the scrum team
  • Define acceptance criteria for all user stories
  • Work with User Representatives to solicit feedback from end user about story grooming, functionality issues and software demos
  • Review and provide feedback on features and the feature backlog as they are developed
  • Answer questions and help developers make decisions about stories during development and testing
  • Participate in user testing in sprints
  • During Testing & Release Activities, this candidate will be responsible for:
  • Contributing to defining User Acceptance test scenarios
  • Participate in User Acceptance testing during sprints and during release preparation
  • Sign off on Release testing prior to a production! release
  • Work with Change Management (CM) team members to create training and communications plans
  • Assist CM as they develop communications to executives, stakeholders and users of the system
  • Provide formal input to leaders on Go, No-Go decision making prior to go live
  • Provide hands on support to users immediately after go-live
  • Capture problems experienced by end users and report issues to the program team after go-live
Skills Required:
  • Balance of technical knowledge and business acumen

  • Proactive, self-starter with excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment
  • High degree of organization, individual initiative, and personal accountability
  • Bachelor's degree and 6 years of product or project development experience
  • At least 3 year of experience in Product Management and/or Product Development
  • Proven track record of delivering data driven solutions with a customer-first mindset
  • Established background in launching software or services in partnership with engineering teams and high degree of proficiency in prototyping, iterative development, understanding of Agile principles
  • Experience successfully driving end-to-end delivery of data and intelligence solutions, including a wide variety of mechanisms, e.g. dashboards, APIs, real time alerts, etc.
Optional Skills:
  • Background in software development preferred
  • PMP Certification a plus, but not required.
  • Product Owner Certification a plus
  • Property Tax Administration a plus, but not required.
  • Agile Project Management methodology
  • Microsoft Azure application
