Responsibilities

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment that is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and is supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is steered by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values.It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, it is expected that the individual upholds the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals.
Qualifications

Required Minimum Education

  • High school diploma/ GED required or Graduate of an accredited (for example: CAAHEP and ABHES) program in surgical technology or a licensed practical nurse

Preferred Minimum Experience
  • Experience as a preceptor or mentor preferred. Strongly prefer CST experience in an OR with exposure to a broad spectrum of cases.

Required Minimum Certification
  • National certification, CST or NCCT, in surgical technology required,

Required Minimum Skills
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate with other health care providers in the provision of patient care
  • Ability to delegate to other team members as required
  • Ability to multi-task essential
  • Ability to function in stressful and emergency situations essential
  • Strong detail orientation required
  • Knowledge of surgical procedures required
  • Basic computer skills are required
  • Skill and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in-writing
  • Skill and ability to handle multiple priorities, self-direct, and apply independent judgment
  • Ability to think critically and adapt quickly to changing situations
  • Skill and ability in basic computer skills to include Word, Excel For Direct Patient Care positions
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification by the American Heart Association or American Academy of Pediatrics is required
