Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Regulatory Compliance, the incumbent is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of the Johns Hopkins Health System Corporate charge description master (CDM). This includes working with administrative/clinical management of departments to implement changes identified by the Senior Charge Description Master Coordinator 2) Work with EPIC Application Coordinators to ensure all subsystems and charge capture applications are updated; 3) Work with IS, Clinical Departments and Compliance to research, design and implement charge code and charge structure improvements and participate in ongoing coordination and resolution of revenue issues 4) conduct billing audits of target clinics and outpatient departments; 5) assisting patient financial-services in CDM related and claim problem resolutions; 6) Implementation and maintenance of the EPIC EAP file for the Health System 7) following instructions of Senior Charge Description Master Coordinator by carrying out assigned activities to assure up-to-date CDM and charge capture of services

Education:

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent. Associates degree strongly preferred.

Work Experience:

Requires 2 years of coding experience with a minimum of 5 years of healthcare work experience in an acute hospital environment.

Licensure/Certification:

Coding certification required CPC, CPC-H or CCS. EPIC Certification strongly preferred

Knowledge/Skills:

Requires knowledge of medical terminology, billing requirements and health care information system. Requires knowledge of ICD-9, CPT, HCPCS, and UB04 codes along with their assignment and compatibility. Requires a knowledge of anatomy, physiology (as defined by the Medical Diagnostic Categories), and all body systems. Requires general understanding regarding the State of Maryland HSCRC regulations.

Requires strong interpersonal communication skills; the ability to interact and communicate effectively with department management and staff is essential. Demonstrated ability to read and understand complex billing and compliance regulations, especially as they relate to coding and billing. Requires the ability to execute multiple tasks under guidance of CDM Coordinator.
