The individual will be responsible for providing analytical support to the department of Quality Control. The individual will be responsible to follow established procedures and protocols to conduct various independent and team driven laboratory experiments. The candidate should assist with the day-to-day maintenance of an orderly QC laboratory such as safety, ordering and receipt of reagents, Instrument calibration.

  • General understanding of USP Verifications, Validations & Method Transfers in accordance with USP < 1224> < 1225> & < 1226>.
  • Ability to collaboratively write, review and execute verification / validation / transfer protocols.
  • Ability to perform wet chemistry, i.e. titrations, loss on drying, KF etc., of raw materials in accordance with Akorn’s standard operating procedures, USP/NF and cGMP requirements.
  • Ability to prepare and standardize solutions the following: volumetric solutions, test solutions, buffer solutions and colorimetric solutions per USP/NF.
  • Perform assay and organic impurity analysis using HPLC and UPLC analytical instrumentation.
  • Perform residual solvent analysis using GC instrumentation.
    • Experienced in GC analysis; USP < 467> Residual Solvent testing a plus.
  • Maintains laboratory notebooks, calculates results and enters the results into verification / validation / transfer report.



Qualifications
  • Analyzes samples of pharmaceutical finished products, in-process samples and others including research oriented samples.
  • Knowledge of laboratories regulatory programs and objectives (cGMP, GLP, etc.).
  • Proficient with computer programs desirable; or an aptitude to learn computer programs as needed.
  • Advanced instrumentation skills, data processing and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years previous work experience in an industrial chemistry laboratory with GC, HPLC and UPLC analysis.
  • Experience with Finished Product testing as well as experience with Raw Materials includingUSP testing, ability to discern differences between vendor-based and pharmacopeia-based analytical methods, GC Testing and Physicals Testing such as Karl Fischer and or other titration techniques
