Position Title: Chief Systems Architect

Location: Remote, Anywhere US based

Your role

We are a highly skilled and motivated team in a large global, publicly traded, critical infrastructure provider. We are seeking an experienced strongly motivated Chief Systems Architect to join our team for a career in building new products and services for global enterprises and service providers, by working with our product strategy, product management, product development and IT teams to completion.

What you'll do

• Responsible for the system level design of significant new capabilities for a Digital Realty Service Delivery Platform (a multi-tiered orchestration platform), its integration with all other company systems, and system level design of other new technology products that may interface with it
• Document and present to management on the technical state of the Service Delivery Platform, technical decisions, capabilities, strengths and weaknesses, and inform engineering priorities
• Interface with partners and customers to represent the value of the Service Delivery Platform, how they can consume and integrate with it on a technical level as required by engineering
• Serve as an experienced resource with a passion for building distributed automated systems using a variety of in house and open-source capabilities, working to inform internal functions
• Responsible for high level recommendation and validation process of all aspects of the full stack platform, including network, compute, and storage infrastructure, cloud deployment methods, commercial-off-the-shelf software ("COTS"), and custom development by working with all of the product and engineering teams in the product team and in other related functions such as IT
• Work closely with other architects and engineers to recommend and design solutions that meet Digital Realty and customer needs, interfacing with both new and legacy systems globally
• Work with application teams to understand their functions and needs, and design solutions to enable integration with a Digital Realty Service Delivery Platform, aligned with product strategy
• Provide system design guidance to the engineering team for the Service Delivery Platform

What you'll need

• Minimum of 5 years professional experience in building automated systems and advanced networking products and solutions, working with global teams to implement new systems
• Self-starter, effective working independently and as part of a team
• Expert level capability in programming and distributed system automation (Python, Elixir, Ansible, Airflow, Terraform, Linux KVM, Docker, etcd, etc)
• Experience building systems interfacing with other systems using modern API techniques
• Extensive experience in building in cloud environments, including AWS, Google, and Microsoft
• Solid understanding of Linux OS principles
• Networking knowledge (OSI layers, fundamentals of internet communication such as DNS, ICMP, BGP, routing and switching) experience with Arista, Juniper preferred
• Container technologies, virtual machines, basic firewall, and other security technologies
• Architecting distributed networking systems at cloud scale
• Building integrated solutions with the top cloud service providers
• Experience working in a Service Provider or Cloud environment a big plus
