We are accepting applications for a part time Clinical Assistant in our Nuclear Medicine Program. Clinical Assistants work on an as needed basis, will adhere to the aforementioned mission statement, and will assist with clinical learning for students in the Nuclear Medicine Program under the supervision of a faculty member.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Required: Associate Degree in Nuclear Medicine.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

Required:

  • Clinical expertise to function effectively and safely in the designated areas of teaching. 1 year or 1600 clinical hours

Preferred:

  • Evidence of competence in nuclear medicine by earning a credential in Nuclear Medicine (NMTCB or ARRT-N)
  • Evidence of continued education. 24 hours every two years
  • Evidence of competence in patient care by earning a credential in Nuclear Medicine (NMTCB or ARRT-N) or via reference

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support clinical faculty member in identifying and securing clinical learning experiences for students.
  • Use instructional technology/electronic health records
  • Attend briefings on clinical procedures
  • Maintain a visible physical presence at each clinical affiliate on a regular schedule.
  • Resolve clinical issues as they arise (with the assistance of the program director.)
  • Responsible for the orderliness of the learning environment and in the appropriate and safe use of instructional facilities and equipment.
  • Retrieve and file clinical paperwork on a weekly basis.
  • Meet with students and clinical instructors on a regular weekly schedule at each clinical affiliate.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work under stress.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to deal with people in a professional manner.
  • Able to stand for long periods, to walk long distances, and to lift 50 lbs.
  • Aware of an environment where there is a potential exposure to infectious diseases.
  • Daytime, evening, early morning, and weekend work may be required.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with students.
  • Protecting confidentiality of student information.
  • Abide by Nuclear Medicine Program and agency dress codes and professional behavior expectations.
  • Knowledge of clinical and agency policies and procedures.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time, and be able to move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Work Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events as necessary or scheduled). This job may operate in a variety of clinical settings.

Salary: Amarillo College Staff Salary Schedule grade 11
