The Clinical Supervisor will report to the Director of Co-Occurring Services. The Clinical Supervisor position will operate across behavioral health and addiction programs at the VOAC Core Service Agency and the Medical Respite program. This position reports to the Director of Co-Occurring Services. The position potentially entails (though will not encompass all) a variety of different roles including:

Clinical Supervision: The Clinical Supervisor will work with the Director of Co-Occurring Services to provide individual and group therapy/counseling services across the BH and SUD continuum to a caseload of mentally ill and/or dual disorder adults and to supervise as assigned a team of BH CSW's.

Intake/Assessment/Diagnosis: Providing both direct intake services to new enrollees of the Hope Center and to provide supervision of appropriate staff to the Intake/Assessment/Diagnosis function of the CSA.

Assessment and Referral: As part of the SUD clinical team, participate in providing AR services to District residents who come to the Hope Center for assessment, referral and intake to SUD services throughout the District.

**Health Home Liaison: Providing support to the Health Home Nurse Care Managers by supervising CSW activities-outreach, engagement, support-to Health Home consumers enrolled at The Hope Center.

  • Candidate must be a DC-licensed clinical social worker (LICSW), or a DC-licensed professional counselor (LPC) or a DC licensed Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC1/CACII) certification. Dual certifications will be factored in to the recruitment process.
  • Minimum of at least three (3) years of clinical experience working with persons with complex medical and health needs
  • Minimum of at least three (3) years supervisory experience
  • Must be able to provide effective therapies to a range of consumers, develop strong collaborative-working relationships with the client/consumer using appropriate patient-centered communication skills, coordinate as needed with municipal, county, City, and State agencies, as well as, other non-profit agencies, including the faith based community.
  • Ability to provide effective training, prepare written reports, and document and maintain client data using an electronic client record system.
  • Be able to read, write, and speak the English language and have the ability to communicate effectively with the people to whom services are provided.
  • Ability to document all healthcare and medical needs as required by all licensing and monitoring entities.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to perform basic computer and office equipment skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations to people supported, families, guardians, and other medical professionals.


RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage a therapy caseload of no more than 20 BH/SUD adults at any given time
  • Ensure that the client/consumer is at the appropriate level of care
  • Provide supervision to BH CSW's and/or SUD CACs.
  • Provides oversight of linkages to off-site services to meet additional needs related to a co-occurring medical and/or psychiatric condition, as documented in the treatment plan.
  • Monitor the compliance with, and effectiveness of, services over the treatment period and make a determination of the frequency of ongoing assessments.
  • Provide Individual, Family, and Group Counseling; Group-based Psychoeducation, across BH/SUD programs according to the client/consumer's assessed needs.
  • Provide Intake, Diagnosis and Comprehensive assessments/screenings; and supervise assigned BH clinicians providing intake services.
  • Provide Crisis intervention services
  • Conduct education to include training on HIV to assigned clients
  • Assist with providing access to testing and referrals for HIV and infectious diseases and coordination of services with medical care or specialty services related to an infectious disease
  • Attend comprehensive treatment team and assessment meetings on each client/consumer as part of the interdisciplinary team
  • Assist the client/consumer in the development of interpersonal and community coping/life skills necessary to remain sober and maintain recovery.
  • Assist the client/consumer in the development of relapse and symptom management strategies and recovery plans.
  • Adheres to Volunteers of America Chesapeake's documentation requirements
  • Documents all billable activities BH/SUD/Recovery /VOAC Standards (as required)
  • Complete billing/Progress notes within 48 hours of a face-to-face encounter (as required)
  • Perform duties as outlined in Program's Operation Manual.
  • Perform duties as assigned.
  • Meet assigned weekly/monthly productivity requirements

  • Improve or increased stability in the client/consumer's level of functioning.

  • Insures that all documentation pertaining to client services is completed in compliance with agency policies and funding source requirements.
  • Presents a positive image to clients/consumers and the public.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations.

  • The ability to safely operate a motor vehicle to transport oneself, clients, and program supplies as necessary.
  • The physical ability to travel to assigned locations, stand, stoop, bend, reach, pull, push, lift, grasp, climb, talk, see, hear and perform basic and light home maintenance activities, and operate office equipment.
  • Move and lift light objects up to 30 pounds such as mail, supplies, files, and equipment.
  • Operating office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements.
  • The ability to remain in a sitting position for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally, ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
