Job Description Summary:
Container Platform Team at PayPal is looking for a experienced Cloud Engineer who will implement next generation cloud platforms in a hybrid cloud setting to support PayPal business teams to scale their applications that serve millions of customers worldwide and process billions of dollars in payments.Understand our products and services to push our technology forward with respect to functionality, performance, reliability, and scalability. Estimate engineering efforts, prioritize projects, plan implementations, and triage production issues.Work on building cloud platform with best of the breed technologies, such as Containerization, Cluster resource management, and distributed systems

Job Description:

CaaS (Container As a Service) is a model where IT organizations and developers work together to build, ship, and run their applications on premises or in any cloud-based service. CaaS enables an IT-secured and -managed application environment consisting of both content and infrastructure. With CaaS, developers can build and deploy applications in a self-service manner.This team offers container-based virtualization

Responsibilities:

• Engineer will implement next generation cloud platforms in a hybrid cloud setting to support PayPal business teams to scale their applications that serve millions of customers worldwide and process billions of dollars in payments.
• Engineer will drive solutions and implementation leveraging different open source distributed systems, drive its adoption and deliver a complete product.
• Engineer would be creative to build brand new solutions from scratch and operate the platform. This platform built on best of breed technologies will be open sourced and the engineer would be part of that journey.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in building massively scalable high performance services.
• Experience with network technologies - network protocols
• Excellent problem solving skills.
• Ability to identify Performance bottlenecks.
• Contribution in open source projects a plus.
• Experience in building highly available platforms running in production handling no downtime rollouts
• Experience with full software development life cycle (SDLC), architecting scalable platforms, object-oriented programming (OOPs), database design and agile methodologies.
• Experience in developing web-based applications using Python 3, Django 1.10/9,2.2
• Experienced with JSON based Restful web services, Ansible, Airflow and XML based SOAP web services.

Requirements

• BS/MS/Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field
• 5+ years experience in Go/C++/Python
• Programming experience in Go is a plus
• Deep understanding and working knowledge in network technologies and protocols - BPF, eBPF is a plus
• Experience in container networking (docker or kubnernetes networking)
• Strong docker fundamentals
• Understanding and working knowledge on any one of these systems:Zookeeper/etcd/consul
• Working knowledge on any one of these cluster managers: Mesos/kubernetes/docker swarm is a plus
• Strong understanding of fundamental distributed system principles.
• Used Kubernetes to orchestrate the deployment, scaling and management of Docker Containers
