This is what you will do:

Alexion- Astrazeneca rare disease Gemonics Medicine department is seeking a highly motivated Co-op to join our gene therapy and molecular cloning group. This position will focus on designing recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) construct for gene therapy. We offer 1:1 training in crossfunctional tasks involved in the molecular biology, AAV gene therapy and provide individuals a great opportunity to learn and grow in a dynamic team.

You will be responsible for:

Receive training for following aspects and carry out related works:

• Perform molecular cloning and mini prep to create constructs for vectorization.
  
• Complete batch records and documentation accurately related to preclinical manufacturing.
  
• Monitor plasmid supply and ensure quality control for plasmids.
  
• Offer technical support to early development as required.
  
• Participate in group/project meetings and present/update your work.
  
• Manage plasmid data base in an organized manner
  

You will need to have:

• Experience in biology lab.
  
• Lab safety training.
  
• The duties of this role are generally conducted in an lab environment. As is typical of a lab-based role, the candidate, with or without an accommodation to: lift/carry 15/30 pounds unassisted/assisted; work comfortably in a controlled environment with and around biological, infectious, and hazardous materials; gown/degown PPE; use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.
  

We would prefer for you to have:

• AAV and Gene therapy background
  

• Experience with Gibson Assembly
  
• Experience with Geneious Prime software
  
• Experience with molecular cloning techniques, such as bacteria culture and DNA extraction, restriction enzyme digestion, primer design and PCR.
