The Department of the Classics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position at the rank of Lecturer in the area of Classical Civilization and Archaeology, with a start date of August 16, 2021. Reappointment may be possible based on departmental need, funding, and satisfactory performance review.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will teach three undergraduate courses each semester on topics such as religion, Greek archaeology, and Roman archaeology. One fall course may be repeated in spring if enrollments allow.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have a PhD in Classics or a related field (e.g. Archaeology, Anthropology, Egyptology, Near Eastern Studies) by the time of appointment. Candidates with at least one year of college teaching experience will be given preference.

SALARY AND APPOINTMENT INFORMATION

This is a full-time 9-month, non-tenure track position at the rank of Lecturer. Reappointment may be possible based on departmental need, funding, and satisfactory performance review.
