Position Summary

The Communications and Public Relations Director plans, directs and implements comprehensive internal and external communications and engagement strategies that promote knowledge and understanding of Modern while enhancing and protecting the companys reputation among key constituencies. The Director will advise Moderns management team on key communication issues and will lead strategic communications programs that support Moderns commitments to its employees, customers, suppliers and other key stakeholders. The primary goal of this job is to develop a clear, consistent message for the company across all internal and external communications channels.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Oversees corporate policy, standards and parties regarding communications. Ensures that plans, programs and messages are coordinated and aligned with Moderns overall goals and objectives.
  • Drives public relations strategies and tactics that support corporate-related areas, such as corporate image, brand management, reputation management, media relations, etc.
  • Oversees the philanthropic corporate giving program. Establishes strategic alliances for corporate giving to support the community and position Modern as a key participant in the philanthropic community.
  • Develops short-and long-term external and internal company messaging, and is responsible for accuracy, timeliness and relevancy.
  • Evaluates proactive and reactive media and publicity opportunities and provides thoughtful recommendations based on ROI and experience.
  • Maintains a master calendar of community engagement events.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with business and trade associations.
  • Plans programs that promote good will and fosters relationships with community leaders.
  • Updates and works with the Web Administrator to support and educate the community on special events, recycling programs and initiatives and company products and services.
  • Provides monthly reports to the management team on the effectiveness of Moderns communications, community programs and initiatives.
  • Represents Modern at various community events including, but not limited to: job fairs, special interest group events, charity events, meetings; striving at all times to build a positive image for the company within the community and to disseminate information on our corporate mission and values.
  • In coordination with senior management, plans and executes company events, including employee events, customer-centered appreciation events, future customer cultivation events, charitable and political fundraisers, etc. The incumbent has responsibility for coordinating, performing all associated administrative work and frequently acting as on-site host for these events.
  • Manages print marketing materials and all branded promotional products.
  • Photographs corporate events and projects for internal documentation; may oversee professional photographers to deliver photography to meet marketing needs and budget requirements.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, or related field required.
  • Ten (10) years of manager level experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable with writing press releases and story outlines.
  • Analytics and tactical experience with all primary social media platforms
  • Survey writing experience
  • Graphic design experience using Adobe Creative Suite
  • Mailing software experience
  • Coordination and preparation of Qualifications based proposals showcasing Moderns experience, expertise, key personnel and necessary forms
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized with strong project management skills in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Team player and also a strategic thinker who can take initiative
  • Ability to prioritize information quickly and succinctly while keeping close attention to detail
  • Proactive, reliable, responsible, and accurate with an attention to detail
  • Possess the ability to keep information confidential
  • Ability to build relationships internally and externally at all levels
