Summary

Responsible for the accurate documentation of all packaging paperwork associated with the position, coordinating, interpreting, and exchanging all computer operation information within Mozz Packaging, and communicates that information to co-workers, supervisors, and other departments.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary

Sets Vad ID, Product Codes, Product Dates.

Reads and interpret daily production schedule.

Reads and interprets Bill of Materials based upon production schedule.

Creates and scans tote/case labels into production.

Sets and updates date coder and assures accuracy and legibility.

Performs hourly Metal Detector checks, logs checks and alarms, understands metal detector policies and procedures.

Performs scale check verifications and label grades as required.

Completes HOLD tags as needed.

Takes sample blocks and shelf life samples, and assures proper labeling.

Records accurate skid/tote documentation on audit sheet.

Completes shift report sheet with Lot numbers for packaging materials used.

Fulfills all Mozz Packaging responsibilities as needed.

Performs sanitation duties in the warehouse area (Day Shifts Only).

Works closely with all other departments to assure efficient processes.

Ensures all cheese is packaged into correct packaging and communicates packaging needs.

Supports Saputo's commitment to preserve the environment by following all established policies and procedures related to such preservation. Reports any identified concerns regarding potential hazards to the environment.

Other:

Must be lift truck certified.

Keeps work area clean and disposes of trash properly.

Performs all other duties as assigned. (However some may become primary)

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to co-workers and supervisors. Ability to provide clear and concise documentation.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Additional Ability:

Requires basic math skills, strong attention to detail, accuracy, efficient data entry, strong organizational and communication skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); fumes or airborne particles; caustic chemicals; extreme cold (non-weather); extreme heat (non-weather) and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand more than 3/4 of each hour during a shift. The employee is required to walk, drive, and operate foot controls up to 1/3 of each hour during a shift. The employee will squat, kneel, and climb 1-32 times per shift. Heavy lifting and/or pushing is required for this position, up to 55 lbs. Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
