SUMMARY
The Construction Laborer provides support to Chickasaw Network Services, LLC (CNS), a Telecom and Utility Construction Company. This position performs general labor and site utility work in a construction environment as necessary for commercial or residential construction projects. All phases of underground construction include but are not limited to: Loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal and placement of various types, sizes and weight of construction materials and equipment

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assists crew lead and/or local field management in construction work.

Assists with the handling and placement of conduit and cables.

Maintains equipment as necessary and according to safety specifications.

Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.

Mixes ingredients to create compounds for covering or cleaning surfaces.

Loads/unloads equipment and tools.

All other duties as assigned

May be required to work long and unpredictable hours.

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to any training made available by the company.

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
High school diploma or GED and minimum years' of experience requirement as specified below or equivalent combination of education / experience. Experience with locate markings.

Construction Laborer - Level 3 - (3AH) (required degree + 3 years' of experience)
Construction Laborer - Level 2 - (2AH) (required degree + 2 years' of experience)
Construction Laborer - Level 1 - (1AH) (required degree + 1 year of experience)

CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / REGISTRATION
Valid Class A Driver's License Required or ability to acquire within 90 days
Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Knowledge of highway traffic control standards
Knowledge of health and safety regulations, practices and procedures
Ability to use construction and engineering hand tools
Ability to maintain various construction equipment
Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Frequently required to lift, raise or lower objects in a vertical direction, particularly heavy or bulky objects. Moving objects backward, forward, in or out in a horizontal direction, particularly heavy or bulky objects. Pulling, exerting a steady backward, downward, upward or outward force against an object - jerking, plucking, wrenching, stretching, towing, drawing, dragging or tugging objects in a sustained motion. Pushing, pressing against something with steady forward, downward, upward or outward force - shoving, pushing, compressing, squeezing, mashing, packing, pressing, jamming, compacting, or squashing objects in a sustained motion. The ability to see and distinguish colors, to visually distinguish shapes and patterns, to accurately sense distances (depth perception), to accurately see objects and detect motion at wide angles (peripheral vision). Frequently uses the lower extremities and back muscles and moving on foot, particularly for long distances. May have exposure to indoor/outdoor adverse weather conditions. Frequent exposure to noise - workers must wear protective hearing equipment or frequently shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. Exposure to pollutants or allergens which can adversely affect the skin and/or the respiratory system such as gases, smoke, odors, mists, fumes, dust, chemicals, oils or solvents. Exposure to hazardous working conditions including moving machinery, electricity and/or working in high places. May be exposed to hot objects, flames or sparks. The job requires the use of protective equipment such as hard hats, respirators, aprons, gloves, special clothing, safety shoes and safety glasses.
