Who are we looking for?

Our Construction Management Group is growing! In response to this steady growth, our team in Northern CA (San Francisco, Santa Rosa or Sacramento) is looking for a Construction Manager to help us serve current clients and provide GHD's construction phase support services to new clients.

Primary responsibilities be to provide project and construction management for our water & wastewater projects (i.e. pumping stations, pipelines, treatment facilities, etc.), transportation projects (roads, trails, traffic improvements), as well as coastal, environmental, energy, and municipal facilities work throughout the region. Contributions will include involvement in the planning, permitting, design, and procurement stages as well as during construction.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Collaborating and providing project oversight by maintaining communications between project teams, clients and contractors to deliver projects on time, at or under budget, and to the client's expected standard of quality
  • Serving as primary project contact and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Adhering to and advocating for health and safety protocols
  • Providing input concerning constructability and biddability during design and developing project construction schedules and estimates
  • Overseeing contractor's compliance with project permits, design specifications, and drawings
  • Processing pay estimates; make appropriate recommendations to client on payment issues
  • Managing document control including processing all project correspondence, documents, and drawings; preparation of various technical reports
  • Providing appropriate responses and/or recommendations on construction issues; consult with engineering staff on technical matters
  • Negotiating Change Orders on behalf of the client and coordinating with the Design Engineer, as required
  • Conducting and coordinating project closeout activities
  • Coordinating equipment and process startup, testing, and optimization
  • Managing the financial performance of our consulting services contract, including invoicing, budget tracking, progress reporting, and change management
  • Proactively coach, train and motivate project teams; managing the project team and maintaining project requirements for safety, quality, productivity to ensure they are maintained throughout the duration of the project
  • Identifying business development opportunities, lead procurement efforts including proposal and interview preparation
What you will bring to the team:
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent combination of education and management experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as Construction Manager and/or Resident Engineer on municipal water, wastewater, roads, general civil, facilities, or other municipal infrastructure construction projects
  • Current California Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • CCM certification a plus
  • Experience with document management systems, ProCore or equivalent
  • Familiarity with Design-Build and CMAR delivery as well as Design-Bid-Build a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Salary Range: $91,000-$136,000 based on experience.
