Antea USA, Inc. (Antea®Group) is looking for an experienced, self-motivated Construction Safety Advisor with demonstrated practical experience in commissioning and electrical safety while representing the Data Center owner during Data Center construction and renovation

As the Data Center owner's Construction Safety Advisor, you will have the opportunity to use your practical experience to interpret and apply H&S regulatory requirements to Data Center contractors.

The ideal candidate will have at least ten (10) years of hands-on practical H&S programs implementation and management experience in large-scale construction including data centers; the candidate will also be proficient in the management of high-risk activities including facility commissioning, high and low voltage electrical safety, confined space work, fall protection, excavation / trenching, crane use (including critical lifts), and other material handling. Experience evaluating and managing data center construction GC and sub-contractors is required. The candidate must also work well in collaborative environments with multiple levels of reporting, have strong verbal and written communication skills, be able to work independently, be detail-oriented, and possess a strong work ethic.

We are looking for part time (2+ days/week) or full-time (5 days/week) roles in the following locations:

  • Prineville, Oregon
  • Mesa, Arizona
Typical job assignments may include but are not limited to:
  • Developing, writing, and implementing H&S programs and procedures for data center construction.
  • Verification of safety elements related to equipment installation per design specifications during the commissioning process
  • Assuring contractor adherence to NFPA 70E requirements during all elements of the commissioning process
  • Interfacing with data center construction contractors to ensure safe processes are being followed and full implementation of company procedures.
  • Coordinating closely with site GC on day-to-day construction activities and ensure adequate safety oversight during high-risk activities
  • Conducting health and safety auditing of construction activities against federal, state and local requirements as well as client expectations; requires an understanding of federal OSHA and EPA regulations and how they are applied to data center construction.
  • Conducting assessments of potential health and safety risks related to planned and/or urgent construction activities.
  • Developing compliance recommendations based on regulatory understanding and interpretation.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety or related field is preferred but not required.
  • The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of construction-related health and safety experience in a data center environment.
  • Must have a deep understanding of OSHA regulations and their applicability.
  • Must have working knowledge of and ability to implement electrical safety procedures with a deep understanding of NFPA 70E and the control of hazardous energy sources.
  • Must have knowledge of controlling COVID-19 risks at construction sites.
  • Familiarity with NFPA, DOT, EPA, and health & safety regulations.
  • Additional safety training such as OSHA 10 or 30-hour for Construction, 24-hour or 40-hour HAZWOPER is a plus.
  • ASP, CSP, CHST, STS, or STSC certification preferred
  • Must have strong skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office 365, and comfort with using proprietary client software on a daily basis.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • Compliance with any client requirements, including but not limited to COVID-19 vaccine mandates
  • Potential employees must pass a company-paid physical examination and drug-screen; candidates must have a valid driver's license

Physical Requirements / Work Environment - Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following:
  • Sedentary to light work (typical office or administrative work)
  • Frequently required to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of low (under 25lbs) to moderate (25-49lbs) weight objects
  • Repetitive motions: substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers (including reaching)
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions (protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change)
  • Operation of a motor vehicle
Additionally, if you are assigned work in the field at client project sites you will need to complete a medical surveillance/fitness-for-duty examination and maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following:
  • Medium to heavy work
  • Subject to outside environmental conditions: heat/cold, wind, wet and/or humid, etc.
  • Occasional stooping (bending body downward and forward), kneeling (bending legs at knee), crouching (bending body downward and forward) and climbing
  • Frequent lifting (including push/pull, hold/carry) of light, moderate and possibly heavy weight objects
  • Subject to hazards, including a variety of physical conditions, including but not limited to: proximity to moving vehicles, parts or equipment; exposure to chemicals; pressure (including noise); electrical hazards; biological hazards; excavation/trenching; confined spaces; elevated work; materials handling
  • May be required to wear an air purifying respirator
