Overview

We are seeking a Content Specialist with at least 3 years of experience to help us fulfill our mission of helping people achieve education and workplace success. This position allows for a combination of working remote and in the office. The ACT Headquarters office is located in Iowa City, Iowa.

The Content Specialist, ELA will conceptualize, design, and develop materials for assigned programs and services associated with assessing test takers at the K-12, postsecondary, and career levels. Content specialists apply content knowledge, flexibility, and creativity to further the work of the content team. Content specialists understand and abide by best practices in test development, consistently create and deliver high quality content, contribute to process improvement activities, and contribute to new tasks and activities as needed.

What you will be working on:

  • Content development, including its creation, evaluation, and revision, at the item, unit, and form level.
  • Process improvements within CORE programs
  • Special projects
  • Cross-functional collaboration
  • Document and track individual workflow
  • Level description: Intermediate. O ccasionally directed in several aspects of the work while also responsible for self-management. Contributes and collaborates to core content tasks. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.

  • Bachelor's degree in English or related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired
  • Minimum of 3 years of related workplace experience in content/test development and/or teaching in content area, related field, or other relevant work experience.

It's a plus if you have:
  • Graduate degree or coursework in content area or related field
  • 3+ years combined non-teaching AND teaching experience in content area or related field
