Job Role Summary

This position will be responsible for representing the Marion County Health Department in developing and maintaining collaborative partnerships with health care providers and organizations in the community to provide an incentive program, Beds and Britches, Etcetera (B.A.B.E.). This program plays a critical role in encouraging pregnant women to access early prenatal care, complete postpartum visits, and referrals, enroll in Women, Infants, and Children's (WIC) Program, engage in Well Child Care (immunizations, and recommended interval visits) and Women's Preventative Health visits, etc., to improve perinatal health outcomes and the health status of mothers, infants, children, and families. Provides leadership and direction in ordering and maintaining incentive inventory in five B.A.B.E. stores B.A.B.E. coupons to provides program education and coupon distribution to health care and social service providers and organizations in Marion County.

Essential Duties

  • Schedules and controls activities to fulfill the mission of the B.A.B.E. Program
  • Ensures that inventory needed for B.A.B.E. stores is available, accessible, and appropriate by gaining new contracts, analyzing logistical problems, and producing new solutions
  • Estimate quarterly and annual resource requirements for the stores by allocating and managing resources according to changing needs
  • Coordinate, control and monitor the quality and quantity of program materials and activities cost efficiently
  • Provide monthly store managers meetings (annual required training would include safe sleep, car seat safety, and cultural competency and customer service
  • Develop a sustainability plan
  • Research, design, create and implement new ideas and concepts related to incentive programs and emerging MCH issues
  • Assist with designing program and program participant evaluation tools to include surveys, phone interviews, and other methodologies
  • Research appropriate technologies and apply technical knowledge to ensure that an effective inventory tracking system is implemented, and the B.A.B.E. Coupon Data Base maintained and updated
  • Establish and monitor program quality
  • Liaising and negotiating with customers and suppliers by email, fax, and telephone
  • Ensure that all transactions that affect the store inventory are processed accurately through auditing
  • Perform all duties associated with managing blanket purchase orders
  • Develop partnerships and build bridges within the community to effectively respond to the needs of the community and market program

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Participate in department, agency, state and advisory committees
  • Maintains confidentiality of all client records and information as specified by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and participates in annual training update
  • Trained at the appropriate National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ISC) level
  • Participate in public health emergency preparedness exercises and in the response to public health emergencies, as directed
  • Participates in annual Blood Borne Pathogen training update.
  • Participates in a minimum of two H.O.P.E. events totaling a minimum of eight (8) hours annually
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public Health, Nursing, Social Work, other health related studies
  • 3-5 years of work experience in business/retail with programs that serve women, infants, and families
  • Skilled in navigating an inventory tracking system in a distribution center

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of skills in interpersonal communication and human relations
  • Knowledge to conduct trainings as required to achieve goals and service standards
  • Computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet research and desktop applications

Working Enviornment

  • Extensive local travel to community agencies

  • Steady use of hands or fingers
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 40 pounds
  • Indoor and outdoor work in various climates
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment (pallet jack, convertible hand truck, etc.)
  • Loading and unloading of merchandise
  • Physically demanding requires lifting, bending and standing for long periods of time
