General Description / Primary Purpose:

The Coordinator International Student Affairs, under the direction of an Assistant Director or above, assists in the design, development and implementation of departmental processes and/or programs. Recommends policies and procedures to ensure effective coordination of departmental programs.

Job Function:

Assist in the development of international activity programs/projects, including Peace Corps Prep and study abroad. Assist with new international activities as might be desired, under the direction of an Assistant Director or higher.

Advise, recruit, develop promotional materials, and expand opportunities for individual students to study abroad using third party programs, University exchanges, internships, etc., for general and specific activities abroad. Manage and act as a resource for all student information/online applications for all study abroad students, including visas, passports, and emergency contacts.

Maintain bulletin boards, web pages, etc. Assist in writing the Annual Report for Study Abroad, the Division, Open doors and any other mobility reports needed for the position.

Oversee all processes related to pre-departure, arrival, and re-entry protocols for study abroad. Present student safety sessions, information sessions on study abroad opportunities and funding/scholarship options. Participate and represent the International Center to promote study abroad, such as Open Houses, Week of Welcome events, student groups, classroom invitations, orientations etc. Assist in developing and organizing office events to promote study abroad options such as the Study Abroad Fair, Alumni Social, Welcome Back Bash, Orientation, etc.

In addition, this position leads the compliance portion for individuals' students going abroad. To include but not limited to:

1) Ensures registration in International Health Insurance and ensures all University requirements/policies relating to Study Abroad are followed (such as emergency assistance protocols & crisis management).

2) Conducts wellness checks on students while abroad

3) Manages Liability/Waiver documentation collection

4) Facilitates the collection of Clery data (Clery Bill -H.R.3344, S.1925, and S.1930) reported by students on study abroad programs.

5) Helps create University policy and makes real-time independent decisions based on interpretation of University policies.

6) Mitigates risk for the University should it arise (in relation to World News, Alerts and Updates. Emergency Communication. Health and accident Insurance and Mental Health Abroad).

7) Serves as 24-hour emergency contact for time-sensitive and real-time international issues involving study abroad students.

During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job-related duties at a designated off-campus location or place of residence. Coordinates with various campus units such as Financial Aid, Controller, Advising Units, Registrars, Conduct and others throughout all stages of study abroad, from the first interest meeting to compiling grade memos after students have returned to campus.


Marginal Functions:

Maintain Terra Dotta training to update International Center study abroad website. Maintain social presences via, Instagram, Facebook, twitter, and any other social media platforms. Any other additional duties as assigned.

Assist in other office duties and projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

This position requires either (a) Master's degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization ; (b) Bachelor's degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and two years of experience directly related to the job functions; or (c ) 6 years of direct experience.

This position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). This position has been designated as a CSA because it involves significant responsibility for student and campus activities and/or responsibility for campus security. As such, any person in this position must report to the University Police Department a crime or an incident that might be a crime that he/she becomes aware of. This position has a reporting requirement because the University believes that responsibility for students, campus activities and/or campus security will make the holder of this position someone members of the University community will see as an authority figure and someone to whom they can seek help. A CSA is not expected to investigate or determine whether a criminal incident actually took place. A CSA's responsibility is a duty to report. All positions designated as CSAs are required to complete an online or in-person training session. The holder of this position is designated as a "Responsible Employee" pursuant to their role under Title IX.
