Located in a vibrant community within the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Bridgewater College serves approximately 1,400 students who hail from 26 states and 19 countries. Serving as the primary conduit for facilitating student engagement with clubs, organizations, and events on campus, the next Coordinator will prioritize deepening students' sense of belonging for a community-focused campus environment. The ideal candidate will bring a demonstrated track record of success in fostering inclusivity, working with college students across diverse identities, and contributing to the cultivation of a welcoming and vibrant campus environment. This is a 12-month position, using the summer months to develop new programs and assist with new student orientations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Working closely with the Director of Student Engagement to enhance, implement, assess, and develop new Bridgewater College traditions. Providing vision and direction for mascot programming, including costume development, establishment of mascot responsibilities and compensation, staffing, auditions, training, scheduling, and handling of all Ernie the Eagle appearances. Working in partnership with the Director on building class affinities for the four distinct undergraduate classes through class programs, meetings, and fundraising efforts. Working with the Director to create, implement, and maintain a creative social media platform that encourages student engagement with all facets of Student Life. The ability to supervise student employees, coach them to grow as leaders, mentor them in interpersonal communications to work collaboratively with others, and make thoughtful decisions is important. While this person is expected to work in a high-functioning team, being autonomous to keep programming going is highly valued.
